How will you be able to play XP only games post-2019?
To compound the matter, some XP only games only come with steam intergrated (installing off a cd out of box requires steam). Would it be possible to just release a version of steam that literally only has you sign in to verify your games library thus allowing you to play the games?

Inb4; Update to better windoze, Get Linux, ure screwed, 'gamz r licences ♥♥♥ u', and IDK

Edit: Why not use an embedded form of firefox for xp and vista? I get this is 'only' going to affect 'less than 0.2%' but I'm asking out of the principle of the matter...

Some of these XP games might lack a DRM making you able to simply copy them over.

Besides that, not much you can do. (Linux and WINE welcomes you with open arms :steammocking:)

Firefox is also dropping XP and Vista support, just as Chromium has, so that puts it in the same boat.

Most games that will run on XP should run on Windows 7/8/1 with little issue (if any). Very few require anything more then compatibility mode.

That is not really an option. You can only refund within 2 weeks and with less then two hours of playtime.

Some of these games might get patches so they will run on modern OSs so just wait for those.

Your old XP games will still be playable, you will just have to play them on a newer PC.

I have plenty of XP era games, and even more 9x era games.. I have yet to find 1 that won't run.on my w7 or w10 builds

The games won't be fit for the purpose they were purchased for [Playing them] thus they should be able to be refunded. ( https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/consumer-rights-guarantees/consumer-guarantees )

I still have some Windows 3.1 games that work fine.

Castle of the Winds is still a great game.

Then be our guest and try to get a refund. This is a user forum, so there's really nothing we can do for you. Good luck though.

Yes indeed OP can still install them but there are quite a few Windows Vista (or older) titles which do not run properly anymore on modern OSs.

One example is Stormrise (No longer sold on Steam) it will only run on Windows Vista. People who bought this title are now stuck with it.

People are also having issues with Games For Windows Live titles they only run on Windows XP - 7. We have to use cracks, modified .ini files and other workarounds to run these games on Windows 10. So when Windows 7 gets it's support dropped in 3+ years same story there.

Then the games will be sitting there waiting for you when you can upgrade.

The games are still playable, you just need a compatible platform to play it

All my GFWL games run fine on Windows 10. Just need to reinstall GFWL directly from MS and not through the game's installer.
