Game kept glitching out but I couldn't stop it from Running - denied refund
I bought Arcanum during last week. I tried to play it once, got about 5 mins in and then after opening a menu, it crashed. After that I walked away for a few hours. The game kept showing as "Running" and I could not stop it. I even force closed Steam and reopened it but it still kept saying Running. I literally had to completely uninstall Steam and reinstall it to get this POS game from Running.

I sent in a request for a refund, but since the game now shows I played it for a few hours (even though it was only due to a Steam glitch) I'm getting auto denied a refund.

Does anyone know how I can get a real human being to look at my request so I can get my $4 and change back? Honestly the game isn't even worth $1.

End the task in the task manager or restart your PC next time. A bit simpler and faster than what you did.

Respond to the initial denial using the "I still have a question" option, and explain the situation. You may get an exception.

It was not showing up in my Task Manager, but even when I force closed Steam and reopened it it was STILL showing as Running. I literally could not stop it from Running. Even after rebooting my PC and reopened Steam... Running. It was like some kind of curse.

This exact same thing happened to me with Doom 3 and only ever happened on that game. I didn't know it affected Arcana as well but the most surefire way to stop games from running when they're actually not is to log off and let everything close down or reset your PC. The task manager won't ever show what the cause is and I think it's just the Steam files in the game folder aren't working properly.

Honestly that problem shouldn't be happening in the first place - it's clearly Valve's or the developer/publisher's fault for making a Steam version that doesn't even work properly. As far as I'm concerned, that's very much a defective product and seeing Valve not give you a refund because of their arbitrary time limit is ridiculous to me.

To be denied using the refund system, when you have too much playtime, is to be expected. That's why this method exists, and exceptions are given sometimes, but just not guaranteed because the playtime was exceeded.

If it was just as easy to submit a request using the normal system, then everyone would just buy games, play them as long as they want, then say whatever they wanted was the cause of too much playtime, and then Valve would be out of business.

They are exceptions, not the rule.

Your comment isn't very helpful honestly. Did you not see what I said? I didn't actually PLAY THE GAME FOR 4 HOURS. I only played it for about 5 minutes! It's just that it kept showing as "Running" on Steam due to some kind of glitch where I couldn't stop it from running. If I had put in that many actual hours of gametime I would definitely not even think to request a refund. The game is broken.

Explain that to support.

Thank you for your support. I completely agree. I think I am just getting auto-denied the refund by bots and it is pretty infuriating. I don't have any way to contact a human being about this from what I can tell.

There is no "I still have a question" option anywhere. Where do you see this?? It's no where on the Support page. It just says "This help request has been closed" and I have no way to refute it. They just get the last word and that's it, it seems. Really, really ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Yes, I saw what you said, as I read your OP very carefully. But my reply was not to you, as it was to the other user above. And your OP does not make what I said any less true.

EDIT...Playtime is playtime. If the .exe was running, it all counts as playtime if you were playing or not. They can't tell the difference. All the refund system has to go on is what your account shows as time the game was running.

The most help we can give in these cases was already given at that time, if the method to do so was unclear (it was in the first post).

If it was, ignore the title of this guide, and follow the steps to the selection "I have a question about this purchase" :

It's the same exact reply we always give in these threads, where the user has too much playtime due to an apparent issue they said they had which was out of their control.

please update that pc, as i recall that Arcanum is well tested by many, many years ago.

its actual that old and a disk version, you might want to check own game forum for change settings on the game if others say so
