ofc. also test network for bad packets is required
Appreciate the response
ISP: Verizon Fios
Firewall: Did a fresh install - only running Windows Firewall
Security Apps: None at the moment
Packet Loss: Pinged my own IP and google.com and encountered 0% packet loss
Tested the issue on a separate computer experiencing the same 12.6kb/s
From the above appears this is not specific to my computer but something on the ISP or Steam side
Tried switching to various locations
Each time I switch I get an initial burst of 10 or seconds of normal download speed then it slowly decays back to 10kb/s
If each region is doing that, that is pretty indicative the servers for the Steam Network are fine.
Boot the PC into safe mode with networking.
Bypass any wireless connections and use ethernet only.
Set the region back to the one you normally use and test it in safe mode with networking.
im not point at who has issue, but i think 2 other from that ISP clould be a issue, and that mean 3 people with you, but contact isp and try locate other thread post was within 24hours ago, or they will maybe reply here or not. and im not saying ISP is responsible , it could be next jump, so do talk nicly with them. see tracert , again could be other down the line, or both of them have comuincation issue between them, and ofc you will never get why, other then found configuration issue , dont forget isp has to work together , or next case can be more diffcult to solve if they aient nice to eachother. i understand our point of view who can we blaim , but things dont work like that then traffic can go though many ISP. so now you know .if you did not know already.
yeah, but only own ISP can check up on it, atleast it look like a little break through in this odd case, but be sure it aient own problem with bad packets , some ISP can actual bill you for problem is at own end equipment and not releated at ISP if Technician has to check lines at our place. ( and there is always one customer that has other issue and look like same case.
and thats why i have been hard with check own lines and be sure to gather proof.
and yet no smoking gun found other then same region ISP.
Agreed - for now, appears this is related to Verizon Fios in the DC / NE Region
Hey, having the same issuer here, DC location.
My download sped up for about 4 minutes, go 4 gigs downloaded, then the slow behavior resumed. Let me know if there are any steps you took with FIOS I should repeat to get the fix to work for good.
