No CD Key?
I bought Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order around New Year's and just got around to playing it. Except... the game won't launch Origin properly, is unplayable without launching Origin, and I can't find the key so I can launch it from inside Origin directly. (yes, I've tried reinstalling; Origin runs fine on its own, it just opens a new instance when I launch the game, that immediately breaks.)

The game in my Library says the key is a DLC; does anyone know where this is stored? I haven't been able to find it anywhere. It just says it's been installed Support FAQ says it's part of my receipt email, but I've scoured every inch of that thing. It is definitely not there. FAQ says if it's not in my email, then it's in the game... the game that I can't launch without it.

Alternatively, is there a link buried somewhere in the ticket system that will get me a person, instead of an FAQ link or a "sorry, we can't help with 3rd-party games, contact the manufacturer"? Because the CD code is something *Steam* needs to give me, not Origin, so contacting them isn't going to do anything...

There no key. This is like how it is with Uplay games.

You need Origin which is stated on the Steam store page. Please ensure Origin is installed, as well updates, and login into the account that you be claiming your game on. When you launch game from Steam, it will launch your Origin client.

You can contact Origin how to link your Steam account to your Origin account if you need help with that.

That's an EA game which activates on Origin.

According to this thread, posted about an hour ago, the game needs an update through Origin :

So if you can't run Origin, that's surely relevant to the issue also.

I dunno if you guys read his post correctly...

STEAM = Jedi Fallen Order = Origin = Update

Does it still continue to not work?

So, as i've noticed, sometimes there is a Delay in an E-Mail for Receipts, it should be there,
if you try at a later time, & it's still not showing, then either your not being Notified by E-Mail,
& you just need to turn that on, or a glitch might of happened, where you just didn't get
the E-Mail...

There should be a way on Origin to Find CD Keys...

STEAM Keys = Click Top STEAM Client, Click User Top Right, Click Store Preferences,
You should be able to find it from here...

Origin Keys = Log-In to Origin, go to your Game Library, Open the Game Up, &
there should be a Star Icon on the Game's TAB Window to your Right, it should
ask for Game Properties, click that, & in the General TAB, you will see the CD Key...

Alternative way is... So if you Click Top Left, Origin, & goto EA Account & Billing...

Try there...

Also, you wanted a Live Chat?

https://help.ea.com/en/contact-us/?product=origin

Try this? For Origin, btw, not all of your choices may give you
a Live Chat, but I just checked & at least some of them do, so
make sure you choose the correct Options when going to Live Chat...

If you don't get live chat, try again with a different Option...

Good Luck...

I was having some similar issues last night after buying the game yesterday and spent far too long trying to find a solution online. What eventually fixed the issue for me was changing the high DPI settings for EALink.exe, which runs when you try to launch the game. The application can be found at C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin, or wherever you've installed Origin. Right click on the file, select Properties, select the Compatibility tab and then click Change high DPI settings. At the bottom of the menu that appears, select the checkbox beside "Overide high DPI scaling behaviour." Finally, select System from the dropdown menu. Hope this helps.

post #3 quoted below confirming it worked.

This fixed it for me, thank you!

Note: I do not have the game so cannot test if this will actually work and solve your problem.

Origin is installed, updated, and logged in. I bought the game from Steam, not Origin, so as far as Origin is concerned I don't own the game. I'm trying to find the key I got from Steam so I could transfer it into Origin and try launching from there instead of my desktop. I checked store preferences; it says that I *have* a key, but not what or where it is.

Changing compatibility settings in the Origin client files still gives me the same behavior (game launches Origin, which gives me a login screen for about half a second before vanishing to an inch-wide bar in the corner of my screen, with an empty preview in my taskbar.)

Spoke too soon; had to change the settings on both Origin *and* the EALink version. It's staying up now! Thanks!

There's no key... And yes you do need the Origin client, and have to link it to add your game from Steam to your Origin account. It's doing exactly what Ubisoft does with their games with Uplay.

Origin works the same as uplay

They use the internal APIs to send the activation request to the Uplay or Origin client

You never have to do anything. The game activated on the account you log into with Origin/Uplay.

Steam got rid of cd keys years ago specifically due to issues with cd keys and keys running out, etc. that’s why games now require you to link your steam account rather than using CD keys to verify you own a game
