How do I revert an update? Problem is Resolved Use the Beta for now.
They screwed up the resolution on everything except Library. (Fixed)

The issue this thread originally describes is fixed with new Beta. It is assumed it was a mistake and that it will be implemented with the next live update.

Problem with dpi is fixed in beta. Go and try it out guys :) It fixed it for me :steamhappy:

Please explain "fixed in beta" what did you do?

Opprinnelig skrevet av TearDrop:

Just download new beta from settings menu. Fix was included in beta update. So it will probably be in official patch in few days.

DPI PROBLEM FIXED GUYS !!

1) Open Steam Beta Updates
2) Restart your Steam.

And enjoy.. :)

I can live with that.

And don't forget to retick use DPI scaling on Steam.exe so you can see the text.

hmm sounds to me the same problem as everyone has its just he's at 4k and the rest of us arn't so his ui is tiny... hense.. the coders broke steams scaling to window size

but i knew that cause i took like 10 minutes to test the theory.. might do yourself some good and do the same.. switch to the store and change your window size. see if the steam interface for the store grows or shrinks

mine doesn't

I am looking at the scaling issue in Windows in the display settings, not increasing the size of the a displayed window.

I am trying to get information going here, so they can try and isolate the issue. The more information the better.

my point is before the recent update the pages scaled to the window size.. now it's static and set to the display settings. meaning they broke the store adapting to window size and not causing the need to scroll to see things if in windowed mode with your display scaling at 125%+ as i'm suffering from.. i refuse to run steam in full screen.. there's no need

I don't recall mine ever adjusted to the size to begin with. The text and such was static, unless I adjusted the scaling.

Steam does not have a full screen mode, unless you count big picture mode.

.... do you really not know that there is a full screen mode on all windows in windows? :points: upper right corner.. there's a group of icons.. on steam there's the bullhorn, the mail icon for messages. your profile button. the big picture button a _ for minimize a square for maximize/full screen, and the X for close window

That is not full screen, that is maximize window. Full screen would be to take the entire screen up with that program, where no other window shows (ie: task bar).

You know there is a difference between maximize and full screen, right?

does steam take up the full screen? yes.. so it is full screen mode.. and to get rid of the vile horizonal scroll bar which wasn't there when my window was the same size a couple hours ago without that bar IE this image.

steam used to adapt to the window size.. you might not have noticed because you never changed your window size. but it did.. it does not now. and it is a problem. especially for people like myself use have to use display scaling to read system messages and make out icons

this is the problem.. you latched onto the display scaling. and not the fact a change happened in the actual reaction to window size scaling

Except it does not take up the full screen. The task bar still remains, so that is maximized window, not full screen. Again, full screen would take up the full screen.

I am trying to get more information and and find common issues as it happens for some but not others. Scaling is one possibility, as well as OS. Text too small? Check scaling and see if that works. No? Then lets figure out something else to try.

Just arguing instead of trying to look at other options and isolate the issue, will not help solve it or help anyone at Valve figure it out any faster. Information will.

and i'm giving you information but it feels like you're not noticing i am. you're being too centered on the one possible problem when i just explained what changed.. it's simple

"the update changed the way steam scales the page based on window size. making the the chromium based (dumb idea btw since chrome is horrible and i've been forced to use firefox' version of it for months and still hate it) based elements tied to system display resolution and scaling instead of the previous window size scaling of 1 patch earlier.. in thus the easiest fix for now would be the ability to roll back the update till this oversight in the way the scaling is handled is fixed"

except for the snark about chromium i just explained to you in simple terms the problem.. present that to them

How did this new steam UI get out of beta?
I have, so many problems with this UI. And that's not even counting what's BROKEN about it.

I would first like to thank Valve for taking away the ability to turn this horrid update off without breaking the ingame UI. Thank you, so very much for forcing this down my throat.

First, The typing space has been trimmed down like they think people only talk like they do on twitter. And when you shrink everything down, and type over a single decent sentance, the UI breaks as the whole window scrolls up ( UI buttons like minimise and close become hidden because you've somehow scrolled down away from them.) Not to mention the overall space to type feels like it's been halved, leading to the above problem becomming even more out of control.

Second, the UI buttons for smilies, posting "Special links" are huge, cut their size in half, then stack them ontop of one another, and get rid of this stupid mic button no one is going to use because we have discord.

Third the text area does not change text size when you set it, leaving that feature only to the above reading area, why it doesn't apply to both is beyond me.

Friends list only becomes decent when you turn off the "Who's playing what" section at the top, you aren't discord, stop trying so damn hard, and failing to even copy them.

Overall, horrible update, please give us a "Pro UI" option to re-enable the old version, and hook it back up properly.

Again, you assume too much. I do not present anything. I am trying to get information, not claim something IS the issue, when it may not be. People are not giving information though, so I am asking for it repeatedly, trying to find common factors. Thinks that Valve may not know if not stated.

You keep acting like I have a say or influence in the matter and I don't. I am simply trying to get (and keep) the flow of information going to find such factors as people don't seem to want to do it on their own.

Windows 10, running at 3840x2160 or 4K native resolution. Was fine before the update and now text size is tiny and full-screen viewing of steam store videos for games only shows in the upper left corner rather than the entire viewing area. Please look at the relevant screenshots in the link https://imgur.com/a/DWn9q7f
