MsMpEng.exe high hard faults when Steam is running.
As described above when i monitor MsMpEng.exe is showing 100+ faults a sec but stops when i shut down steam.
i7 7700k
titan X (Pascal)
Asus Max IX Hero z270
16 DDR4

'hard faults' I think they are page faults same thing i think.

Because as bad as you may percieve the term "fault", those aren't exactly unexpected.

Just seems odd that steam is the only app causing them to such a high number or rather causing the MsMpEng.exe to page fault. MsMpEng.exe is windows defender. I have 16gb of ram so im not short. I know its not serious but kinda bugs me.

What if you set Defender to ignore Steam and games in real time scanning ?

I could try that. I mean not like they should need scanning anyway.

Defender normally does not mess with Steam and games, but any security processes whatsoever should be totally leaving Steam and games alone in real-time scanning.

Active scanning that you do yourself, fine. Passive scanning done by the process, no. Make them ignore Steam and games totally.
