Chat window, no quick way to close friend tabs?

Each friend gets a new tab, fair enough, but the ergonomics of it suck bad.

Is there no way to close all friend tabs at one?

The tab close [x] is in a different place for each person because the tab width is based upon the persons user name. A fixed width tab would be preferable, that way I could just click rapidly to close tabs.

And get rid of the tab close animation or speed it up, it's just an annoyance that gets in the way.

Or am I missing something - is there a way to quickly close tabs, a key combo?

And the list of the left, everytime I click a friend I get a ****** seriously annoying pop-up cover the chat window, it's terrible, I can't quickly go through friends and look at chats because of that extremely bad design that covers up every chat.

Are there no UI experts at Valve? Does no-one test this stuff? It's rubbish.

Look up ergonomics in the dictionary, even better, send your staff on an ergonomics design course because the chat is abysmal, there is so much wrong with it that it makes me wonder if anyone at Valve has a clue what they're doing. When you make stuff like this you come across as complete amateurs, I kind of expect better from a big company.

No idea what you even mean by this. If you've toggled the friendslist to show up on the left side of the chat window, there's a button on the top right of the chat to undo that.

Click a friend on the chat friend list, get an annoying over-sized and utterly pointless and redundant popup - 90% of the info it shows is already there anyway.

If you mean the modal window that pops up upon hovering on the friend showcasing their badge and for example the in-game status, then that's been there forever and is in my honest opinion not all that annoying.

I opened 10 tabs and closed the whole chat window. Opened the chat window again only to have 1 tab there.

I can make a video for you to spoonfeed it if you want to keep acting difficult.

Maybe I just don't feel like pissing around doing screenshots on my laptop right now, it's not set up with a graphics editor and I'm not installing ♥♥♥♥♥♥ software of it just for this thread.

Nobody's saying install software, you could easily use ALT and PRT SCR and go to imgur and paste it. If you're on Windows 10, even using Win+Shift+S allows that.

You're also certainly not helping your argument if you don't want to help others help you.

Yeah, I don't see the X button on the browser to close all tabs with, and seems like the friendslist is merged by default.

This is why it's smart to include details like "I'm talking about the web-browser version, and not the client version of Steam" in the opening post before going all "-1" on people.

It's easily doable on the client; not as easily doable on the browser's chat.

Browser behavior for some reason is different from the steam client behavior, I tend to only use the steam client for the library because it sucks as a browser since ironically it doesn't have tabbed browsing. And sometimes I don't have the steam client loaded.

Steam client still allows you to have separate windows if you just click links with the MMB.

Separate windows is nasty, who in their right mind would want ten different windows all in different places, all awkward to select. Tabbed browsing is infinity better.
