Steam Client Causing Mouse Cursor Troubles
The steam client explicitly causes my mouse cursor to randomly drift diagonally across my screen.

With no input from my physical mouse, the cursor itself will move at random intervals - but always oddly in a north-east motion. However, even when I am making use of my mouse this strange issue can occur, during a game or just moving my mouse to click on something, it will slide diagonally to the top right as I attempt to move in my desired direction.
I have narrowed down this issue to this very program. When it is not open, I do not experience this issue. Something about the client is not interacting well with my mouse/computer.

Again the phenomenon can occur at random, but also when provoked by something like: unplugging and replugging my mouse, my keyboard, my headphones, and anything to do with a USB socket as far as I have tested, as well as sometimes when opening other programs (with the steam client open along side this action). And I know this because I have troubleshooted each of them individually and the only constant to this problem is the steam client.

I already made attempts at solving this problem by; reinstalling steam, utilizing combatibility mode, updating multiple drivers related to my mouse, using a different mouse, and contacting steam support.
All they had to tell me was;

"Hey there,

Thanks for going on ahead and attempting troubleshooting.

Due to the number of unique hardware configurations, software, and settings our users have, troubleshooting individual peripheral issues is nearly impossible for us. A good first step for peripheral issues is to check the in-game settings for your affected device.

We recommend downloading any required drivers for your hardware, and if possible, re-test the issue with a replacement product.

If this doesn't help, you may want to reach out to the Steam Community for help - it's possible other users have a similar peripheral and configuration and have found a resolution for the issue you're experiencing. If you can't find help here we recommend reaching out to a local PC technician who can provide individual Support for your specific issue. "

The only thing left for me to try is resetting to factory new, and I'd like to avoid that - because I'd rather just deal with life without using steam and games exclusive to the program, since it's been nothing but trouble for me since installation anyway.Though, it would certainly be nice to get this fixed because I really want to play the PC release of Monster Hunter World without any inconvieniences. . .I cannot express how annoying it is to have your mouse just randomly reposition somewhere during those critical moments of gameplay.

My mouse is a MSI DS100 Interceptor.
Windows 8.1
Nvidia GTX 980

I guess it must be an MSI issue =_=
yikes - I really like the simplicity of this mouse. It only has two side buttons which is just enough and it has a nice fit on my hand. . .

I started Having this issue as well and I only have an unbraned regular mouse out of an HP computer box.

But on top of the driffting / telleporting to the top right The client seems to not sync up with my mouse's accual location.

If i had to guess the window almost seems like it's a 720p full screen app in the top left cornner as the "Highlighted" button that I "Hover over" is about an inch above my cursor when I'm Trying to click on "Add to wishlist" in the exporation mode (near the left bottum side), but is aligned above my Cursor and to the left when trying to click on next in queue (the right side)

I started having this problem for a couple of months now using Windows 10 and Steam Client. After playing some games and exiting it, my mouse cursor drifts to the edge of the screen. I also noticed when regularly browsing within the Steam Client, most of the time scrolling the page up or down using the Mouse Wheel or clicking/dragging the arrow buttons of the Vertical Page Scroll Bars causes the whole page to jump up to the top. It's quite annoying. Aside from this, sometimes pressing my Keyboard FN+Calculator (F12) keys does not work when the Steam Client is maximized. I still have to exit the program to make pressing the keys work again. :steamfacepalm:

Heya - some progress on mine - there is a window that pops up on the desktop behind all windows preventing clicks from going through.

I ran Comodo Killswitch, and expanded Programs/Explorer to reveal Steam Web Helper app.

Thanks for the replies, I also found another solution that worked but probably isn't worth while to most.
Completely reinstaling Windows 10. lol

I was having some other issues with windows like missing the windows store so steam working after was just a bonus.

Just curious but was your original Windows 10 installation the result of an upgrade from a previously installed OS instead of a clean full reformat and install of Windows 10 originally ?

I'm having this same problem too, but my problem is different, it's a result of me exiting a game called Infested planet then my mouse starts moving on it's own, and the only way to stop is it to exit steam... does anyone know whats causing this problem?

I am so overcome with emotion RN, i was so distraught trying to find a solution to this same problem, it started with Rust, one day my mouse slowly started making its way to the bottom right of my screen ingame, and when i go to google or anything else it wouldn't be affected. this really messed up my aim and i couldn't play well for a while, and recently i got besiege. which has been really fun, but after about 5 hours i came back to play some more after a short break and the same mouse issue had occurred with this game. it was really becoming an issue now. so i came to google and the steam community for answers as a last resort because nobody could help me. and the entire ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ issue, was that my controller was plugged in. MY CONTROLLER WAS PLUGGED IN FROM PLAYING CASTLE CRASHERS AND I HADN'T UNPLUGGED IT FOR SO LONG AND NOW IT'S FINE. Dear god what did i do to deserve this. anyways, thank you for helping me fix my problem. Gosh bless~

I also have this exact program. Same thing where certain programs causes the mouse to go up and to the right at random intervals. Steam doesn't do it but Mr. Shifty and BlueStacks do. And also when plugging things in as well.

- MSI Aegis PC
- MSI Interceptor DS100 Mouse
-Windows 10
