Is there a way to find out what a Steam game's rendering API is?
So I recently started using ReShade [reshade.me] to graphically enhance my games and one of the things that ReShade requires in order to work with a game is that you tell it what rendering API the game uses out of Direct3D 9, Direct3D 10/11/12 , OpenGL or Vulkan. Now for some games it is fairly self evident to me what API they use.

For most games however, I have no idea what API they use. Is there a way to somehow find out through Steam what rendering API a game uses? A quick web search did not reveal anything helpful. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I would imagine that would be on the publisher to say on their store page. A google search *should* help you, I have to imagine that someone's already collected 'all the rendering' somewhere. Steam doesn't control or keep track of individual games engines or anything like that beyond perhaps tags in use and those are not generated by steam itself iirc.

4 years is quite late for an answer, but there actually is a fairly easy way, using MSI Afterburner.

I made a quick guide here, for anyone that still wants to know:

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
