Flash sales sucked and were anti consumer. Having to check every 8 hours? No thanks.
The problem behind this is that people complain about not being able to catch the sale in time because of * work / whatever *, or keeping up to date when it happens then blame Steam for starting too early on them either they missed what they wanted at a lower price point, or was basically end of the sale, then you got people that get upset for making impulse purchase, playing the games they bought, and wanting their refunds but they over shot their agreements of the 2hrs gameplay mark, then we got the people who think they're being cheated because of flash sales, community vote sales, or the 24hr sales, because either they didn't get in on it, or because they bought a game to soon, and want a refund to get X amount back, or because there was a better game they wanted that got a bigger discount that went 20% to 50%, worse part of that every old Steam sale support had to fast is waves of refunds of impulse purchases because of the flash sales.
So the solution was a one fix price sale for the whole two weeks, not only this might have reduse the spam of refunds, but also reduse people complaining about the sales feeling cheated, even thought they don't realize that the Devs/Pubs wanted to put these sales up in the 1st place to get people to buy more, but they blame Steam for it instead anyways.
Right now I can see this being a problem for Flash sale they have to bump that 4/5 game count to at least 10 - 20 because of the amount of games we have on here now which is 5x/6x the amount than before, or they have to cherry pick which games are allow to take part in the flash sale. Now if this flash sale does come back, it would be nice to always check the store every 8 hours, but at the same time going be a cluster **** loading the page because everyone going to be doing the same thing which is overloading the server making it take longer to check what new. I don't believe these old sales are coming back ever again, but who knows maybe Steam will bring it back one day.
The community vote, that i wish would return. Having a 12hour or 24hour runtime should be fine. But the 8 hour deals were a pain in the rear.
On the 20th or 27th ?
Just want to know because i was planing to get a few games so i want to save up money as much as i can.
Leaked months ago. And the event will ALWAYS encompass Christmas day.
