Upgrade your OS.

XP won't be supported in 2019.

Don't waste time trying to troubleshoot your current issue.

Here's a guide containing some older client versions of Steam as well as an explanation on how to surpress updates. Hope it works for you.

Flight Simulator X's store page literally says Windows XP or later

It's not exclusive to Windows XP, just that its bare minimum is that. Besides, even if that was the theoretical situation, compatibility mode can do wonders.

Too bad, for this game, it wont work on Windows 10. I tried many times.

I know for a fact it does, because a friend of mine plays it on Windows 10 fairly actively.

Not to mention on the very first page on their own forums,

Update: Microsoft have updated Windows 10 builds to version 1709 (OS Build 16299.125), this should resolve issues from the Fall Creators update. Let us know if this has resolved any issues.

Say what you will, but even securitywise it's not particularly smart to stay on Windows XP in 2018.

Should there be some reason I'd have to use Windows XP for something, that would be through VM.

This badge would suggest it's longer ago.

Official Microsoft support for XP ended in 2014. Steam will stop all support for it at the beginning of 2019. Stop using an outdated OS and read the responses to this thread.

You are not solving my problem. My kid needs that flight simulation for study. Now I have bad experience with steam. I have bought something that i cant use from steam. We struggle to install that game. Anyway, I already bought a DVD version of the game from ebay. I learn my lesson now. I wasted money via steam, I will stop buying any games from steam for sure. Because Steam is OS upgrade dependent, all previous perchased will be obsolteted. BEWARE!
