What did the disk check result you ran report when you ran it ?

Also check your drive's health and SMART status using Crystal Disk Info.

And, how much free space is left on the hard drive where you are getting this error, as well as what is the total size of that hard drive ?

This is an internal hard drive and not an external hard drive, correct ?

Running a disk check to inspect the drive's health is one of, if not the, most basic steps that you should have done by now, and you skipped right over that suggestion by myself and the good notkennyS.

Set "everyone" to full permissions

Hi,

I've had the exact same issue, started with DayZ update on my SSD. Suddenly it started to give me disk write error also to ANY newly installed game on this SSD.
Strangely the game moving to a different SSD/HDD worked vice-versa, so it was not a permission issue.
Since I was lucky that I didn't have too much data, I removed everything from the drive and tried to re-format it. Windows 10 couldn't format it!!!
This is a Crucial 250G SSD, and it has a tool, called Crucial Storage Executive. Like Crucial and Samsung, probably all SSD (and even HDD) has a utility.
In the utility (after a reboot, because my windows hanged after the format failed) I did a "Sanitize Drive", which unmounts it and deletes EVERYTHING from it, so format it to RAW.
Then I formatted successfully with win10 to NTFS (did an over provisioning, but it is not important) and after this suddenly steam could install ANY game to this drive again.
This is a relatively new drive and has no issues, bad sectors, anything, so I guess, the whole disk write error came with a windows update.

So the solution for me was to COMPLETELY erase the drive (probably you need a tool for that if you have no SSD/HDD tool by the manufaturer), unmount it (I'm a linux guy, don't know the term in win language), restart win, format and then it was working just like before. No more write issues, games are installing to this drive with blazing fast speed :)

Hope, it helps!

Since there are a LOT of forums for the same issue, it would be good to link this solution to all of them somehow...

Kind regards,
Dutch

Have you tried replacing the drive?

Would be the first thing on my mind after repairing it, and it still giving me errors.
