Games freeze randomly for 5-10 seconds
Hey people...
I'm trying to fix this since december last year. Its a brand new PC with 2 SSD's. One with 100GB for the OS and one with 500GB for games.
So now to the problem:
Whenever I play something I get random screen freezes for 5-10 seconds. When tabbing out of the game while its frozen i can normally use my PC with the same speed as always. It's really just the games freezing. My CPU and GPU usage drops down to under 5% while its frozen.
CPU is a i5-9600K (stock) watercooled
GPU is a Gainward GTX1070 GLH (factory overclocked)
Motherboard is MPG Z390 Gaming Plus.
RAM is from Corsair 16GB DDR4 (4x 4GB)
OS is Win 10 Pro
No antivirus program

All drivers are updated.
I used 2 Bios versions to test and rolled back the Nvidia driver without solution.
I also frequently run CCleaner to clean up the registry.
Drives are checked for Problems and OS is checked with CMD "sfc /scannow" command also without any problems.
Windows eventlog also doesnt show anything while it freezes.
I already restored the OS once with formating all drives.

I don't know what to do anymore.
Please help me:steamfacepalm:

Is any of your SSD's a Kingston? I had the same problem for weeks and it was driving me crazy, but the solution was simple. I downloaded Kingston SSD Manager and updated the firmware. If the faulty SSD in the primary, boot your system with another SSD/HDD cuz it will say your firmware is up to date if its the primary/boot disk. I installed windows in my HDD and booted from there to be able to download and install the update from the Kingston SSD Manager.
I really hope this helps. Sorry for my bad english, tho.

RAM bro check your RAM and check the specs for the game you playing, also check if there is a update running behind.

I think a RAM leak would cause the games to crash or give some message in the eventlog. Also the freezing is very weird in Forza Horizon 4 for example. It just prevents me from opening the menu or clicking anything in the menu. Game still runs fine in that period of time..

Your version of CCleaner may have a monitoring mode selection under the tools tab (EDIT...or options tab) of that program. If any of these are active, it can directly conflict with Steam and/or games and cause issues.

You don't need CCleaner for gaming, so disable it in msconfig from even running when you boot up. These types of programs may auto run on boot, by default installation, just needlessly taking up system resouces, and possibly causing issues with games and/or Steam itself.

You can also just disable all that "monitoring" as an option to test this. Then, make sure to verify the games afterwards, but before you test that game.

There can be other programs that can cause this, also.

I'm gonna try this after work, if it fixes my problem I'll be flipping thrilled! This is the only post I've seen discuss a Kingston specific driver issue leading to this problem, so fingers crossed.

Common you can't say you did not know Kingston as pc owner, that Brand name has been here so long, but you should have said i did not know how to update my pc.

You might think we are after you here, we are not, none know what disk brand name every steam user has bought to there pc and the whatever pc build they did.

but if we do not say this here, next steam user think its okay not mention own disk name or firmware, i and other have tried before to say you can update it, you know what you get out of helping ppl that dont know jack and crap here, NOTHiNG.

so lack of knowledge and how things work is common, and you dont even need to know how a harddisk is build its more a update issue.

and you can find 100 if not 1000 of page then many helper here have said check brand name support page.

and steam is not support for your product. or any of steam forum ,they dont make other brands product support.

and now im the bad boy for telling you this ,,,right.

gl with it.

ps.
and there is a reson why i and other bother with a reply, if you have notice the increased harddisk issue lately, but then steam has so many user its actual nothing, its not even 0,1% so and with 1 billion steam account its seen as np here.
