I just made a fresh Install of Win 10 and decided to install some games, which was Crysis 2 that I had not played in years.
So I installed and clicked play, then I had a message come up saying cd key activation exceeded limit and then closed down the game....Really, Really??
I looked around for support options and there were no information about going past a cd key activation limit.....only other cdkey issues. So deceided for the refund option and stating to them all about the cd key activation..(AS I PLAYED FULL PRICE ON RELEASE IN 2011) and now can`t play.
They replied to me saying, we can not give a refund as you have played 20hrs, and thats it??
So get this right....I payed for a game at full price, thats in my library, and now steam will not allow me too play at all, and has given me no option at all in there support to get a new cd key to play a game I own.
Steam I would like someone in steam support to give a different cd-key to this Crysis 2 game so I can play a game that I have already purchased.

It's because of Securom , not Steams fault. it's EA that added it into their game. If you contact EA most times they will give you a new key if you ask their support. Type into google "big steam drm list" to see a list of games that do this so you can avoid them.

See if this helps you. Seem's your number of activations is up. As @Jonny said ask for more activation keys from dev. Other's have done so and gotten them.

And not a steam issue, it's the dev's and their choise of DRM.

There is also a means to actually deactivate a key lkast Iu checked...but most people don't do this before uninstalling.

I am afraid that was the reason, as steam would not accept the code, but I am positive if you try to redeem the d=same code on origin you would not face any issues, and the game would get activated, it is not because EA is stopping you it is steam servers that would not recognise the key.

Did you only try that new code you got on Steam or also on Origin?

He did mention that it might not work on Steam.

Exceeding activations is not a Steam problem, but a user problem. A refund is certainly not to be expected.

As said, Crysis 2 uses Securom and has activation limits. Securom is a 3rd party DRM put into the game by the game's developer. This is not something that Valve has control over. Only EA can increase activation limits and/or remove Securom from thier game(s).

Let me help you with the correct information on this ,I do not want that there should be any sort of confusion in your mind so if we talk about the real picture and the fact so that is that technically not possible to re-set the game code on steam as we are at EA support and we do not work on the same tools and servers as on which the STEAM support does,The best I would recommend to sort this out would be to contact steam.

Again, Steam support can not help with 3rd party DRM. They do not have the authority to increase game activations, nor remove said DRM that was built into the game by the developers.

I suggest you specificaly state:

"Can you reset the SecuROM activations for this key. It is a 3rd party DRM that EA added to their games and Steam has no control over 3rd party DRM added by the developer."

As you did not mention SecuROM at any point.

It is not resetting the code, but the activations used with SecuROM.

You're asking the wrong things man. You keep saying the key is the problem. It's not. You need to mention that the problem is Securerom hit the activation limit. So no wonder why you're not getting the help you need. You don't need a new Crysis 2 key.
