can i bypass the client to run a game?
I just want to play the game I paid for without the heavy steam client. Is there anyway to do this?

Definitely no. Would enable unallowed copies. Will not happen as long as Steam exists.

the correct answer is: depends on the game. Try to run the executable directly from steam commons folder, if it doesn't work, then no. You can turn overlay off, but the steam client is not by any means "heavy"... If it is, then you'll need a new rig for gaming.

Steam doesn't track anything aside from hours played.

You can run Steam in off-line mode.

thanks Liezerota. My rig can handle it, I can't tho. I hate everything about the launcher.

yea right lol, nothing but hours played--i'm sure they aren't extracting more data from us than that.

you can make everything private only to you, for example, right now, nobody can see your games/play times/etc except maybe friends, if you hate being tracked that much then you should probably stop using a web browser too. or connecting to the internet at all. your isp can see everything you connect to unless you use a specialized dns/vpn/etc.

and yes, hours played and achievements are the only things they track, but again, if you're paranoid, you stop probably stop using the internet as a whole. ;)

They aren't.

The only other thing is a hardware/software survey, but you can decline that when it comes up.

There is a small mode as well. Maybe that would be more to your liking?

The Steam client is NOT 200GB.

At this point you have shown you are here just to cause trouble and start an argument. I suggest rethinking that that idea.

Have a good day.
