Any copies out-side of Steam are produced by the developer/publisher of said game.
I wouldn't say that as things can happen with any of those places. Isthereanydeal.com is also a 3rd party and likely doesn't investigate the stores it lists either.
Personaly, I stick with names I recognize.
Even then, still a good idea to be cautious.
Not every bad store advertises its badness by selling stuff like "WoW gold" on the frontpage, or offering to buy your keys.
Contacting the publisher is kind of a stretch, considering they might not even reply, or reply when the sale is already over.
