There is no such think as a Steam Authorized reseller.

Any copies out-side of Steam are produced by the developer/publisher of said game.

It is one of the sites listed here http://isthereanydeal.com/ . It is safe to use regardless of it not being a "Steam Authorized reseller."

I wouldn't say that as things can happen with any of those places. Isthereanydeal.com is also a 3rd party and likely doesn't investigate the stores it lists either.

Personaly, I stick with names I recognize.

If in doubt, contact the publishers and they'll tell you if the retailer is a partner or seller.

Actually, they do. They've also removed stores for doing shady business.

Even then, still a good idea to be cautious.

That is true. While isthereanydeal.com is a good start, it is not a guarantee that everything will go the way you want.

Also, I don't have the know-how/resources to investigate a random game store. A list that not only gives me a good overview on game prices, and where I can at least assume that bad stores will be removed eventually is a great asset.

Not every bad store advertises its badness by selling stuff like "WoW gold" on the frontpage, or offering to buy your keys.

Yeah, I was basing myself off ITAD as well, but I just wanted some sort of official statement.
Contacting the publisher is kind of a stretch, considering they might not even reply, or reply when the sale is already over.
