How to translate a game into your own language?
I know this has nothing to do with Steam but I don't know where to ask so if you know anything please help me or atleast direct me to the site where I can ask others people. The thing is I wanna translate a game, for example right now is Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. But I don't know how to do it. What tool do I use, which file I have to interact with... Also in the future, I wanna translate more game so I need all advice I can get. Thank you for your time.

Games have their in-game language settings.

Generally speaking, games will detect the language on your Operating System and utilize this.

Specifically what are you trying to translate?

I know a game may has many in-game language setting but those are not kind of language I want. I wanna translate subtitle, UI, items, and everything that is a text. Not a billboard with something written on it though, that's a in-game scene.
Some games have plain text files in their installation folders. You can always search through the installation and see if you find anything.
Sometimes there are folders inside named: en, de, fr, etc.
You could then try to create a folder for your language and translate all text files from english to your language.
The best free program to work with these textflles is notepad++ .

Most games however have compiled files that you cannot read without decompiling them. You can look for 'decompilers' on the Internet and try to use them on the game files.

Good luck.
Ask THQ Nordic now that they own KoA:R.

@OP: You are basically asking to mod a specific game and unfortunately, Kingdoms of Amalur has very limited modding options. I've got a feeling providing different subtitles will be an uphill task.

I'd install it (it's been years since I played) and see if I could spot any easy way of doing this, but I just don't have the time this weekend.
I know Kingdoms of Amalur is very hard to mod but it's still possible. I have install some of the mod which give me lots of bikini option as well as nude, turn every painting into porn, all giant is female with expose titties,... I have seen people modding language. I try asking the guy but he refuse to let me know anymore detail except for the patch is from China. I don't know Chinese, hell I don't even know where to find a tool to modding and translating this game in English site. Good to know you care about my topic, though.

Whether certain mods are possible is not even remotely the same as "I can mod anything".

It all depends on what has already been pointed out - whats easy to piddle around with in plain text file, and what is compiled or part of something proprietary.

In short, just because you can fiddle with textures, it doesnt equate to ANYTHING else.

And theres a stark difference as to why windows has 108 language support and games typically have around 5 or 7 eu based languages. Ms has FAR less text to translate in windows and can transfer much of it from previous versions. They also have FAR more money expended into it than Big 38 games had into KOA. Its a stark question of scale.

Im afraid all you can do is check - see if there are any plain text files to translate as already suggested. After that, all you can do is hope you find some committed wizard who knows or has tools to get decompiling, or you can contact thq nordic and ask them where the text files are located and how theyre compiled.

But that last ones a long shot - assuming that info was even passed on from liquidation. But if you really want to do it, thats your options.

I have found a video in which language has been translate in their own. Also figure which file I need to edit, it's .big extension but I can't find a tool to edit it. Maybe I'm wrong but it's a start for something.

Well then, as I said, get talking to forums on fan sites of this game - exercise some googling.

And dont forget that straight up asking the people involved never hurts, although again, I doubt thq nordic will have anything.

Although, try googling who worked on the game and try tweeting them?
