Way to go Steam: first updating the actual amount charged and only then the displayed price.
Refund the item, buy again in winter sale.
Adding it to the cart before the sale ended and not completing the purchase until after it ended showed you a warning that the price changed.
BTW it still displayed the discounted amount when in the cart, there was no warning. Only the payment screen showed a different amount but I clicked past that by habit because usually it's the cart screen that shows pricing changes
Not if you're paying attention to what's on your screen.
Pay attention to the cart and the warning and/or price listed in the cart.
Nothing was wrong except you waited until the last minute to purchase something that was on sale for 6 days.
Upon final checkout it told you.
The cart displayed the discounted amount. And what do you mean wait? I just saw there was a discount and made a purchase
THERE
WAS
NO
WARNING
IN
THE
CART
And neither is there a warning about the time when the sale ends. Look yourself.

Yes...
There...
Was...
You just ignored it.
As we are talking about a display error, there is no actual price change involved, and therefor this warning message won't show up. It would only come in, if the item was put in the cart, when the sale was still up.
If the wrong numbers persist even in the cart and only get corrected at checkout, things are really going badly.

You should've still seen the correct price from the second page onwards,

I've been using Steam for 10 years.
I know how this warning looks.
