Steam Link app with Samsung TV and PS4 Controller
I tried using the Steam Link app on my Samsung KS8000 with a PS4 controller paired and connected via Bluetooth. I can navigate the menu of the app and select which PC to stream from with the controller, but once the streaming starts Steam no longer recognizes inputs from the controller even though the "Using Controller Configs for X User" message pops up in the lower right.

I can also use the TV remote to navigate big picture mode into the game controller settings, and Steam definitely recognizes the PS4 controller and identifies it in both the Controller Settings and Base Configurations menus. Still, no input even when trying to assign buttons under Controller Settings.

I've tried pairing the PS4 controller to the PC and assigning configs that way, and I've tried changing nearly every option I could find including leaving the PIN code blank.

Has anyone found any sort of workaround for this issue other than getting a wired Xbox or Steam controller?

UPDATE: Still no luck, but I just found out I can plug the controller into the TV with a USB cable and everything works properly. It even uses the same named configs when connected with a cable. When disconnecting the cable and going back to bluetooth, the problem arises again.

I'm seeing the same thing, where if I plug the PS4 controller into the TV with a USB cable it will work. But if I use Bluetooth it doesn't. In fact, Steam Link doesn't even detect a controller then -- even if I use a USB Bluetooth adapter plugged into the TV.

The KB says that PS4 controllers aren't supported by the Samsung app, but I find it odd that it works over a direct USB connection just fine.

PS4 controllers are the worst to use via bluetooth, probably because of some proprietary nonsense. I use a whole load of different controllers from different systems, and I've never managed to get a DS4 use bluetooth properly, whatever the setup.

You can get it to work wired fine though, but you should be warned there seems to be a current problem in the recent months where controllers can just stop working for no reason. Not seen a solution or even a definitive reason why this happens yet.

And if that happens, then the only workaround that has had limited success is to use something like Joy2Key. It's far from perfect but if you do get this issue, then that's about all you can do.

As I said, it seems to be some Sony proprietary ♥♥♥♥ in their bluetooth signal (I could be wrong but this is based on my experiences with various controllers). When you use a cable you aren't using that.

Anyone found a working solution yet? As I got a bluetooth 5.0 adapter for my computer and steam works fine, using the bluetooth on my tv connects but same issue steam doesn't work, using the bluetooth adapter the controller does not sync at all

Doubtful - if you can't Google something and sombody hasn't managed to crack Sony's proprietary stuff (or whatever it is) then you're SOL.

Then what's the point of steam link on a big TV?

There's a difference between ALL smart TVs and a proprietary one.
