Cannot install in steam library, repair folders never ends
When i try to install a game i am prompted that my disk is broken.

I'm trying the "repair" folder in steam libraries but it seems to just sit and run forever. How long should it take? Any more tips?

Thanks

Start your system in safe mode (obviously with networking). Does it work then?

Have you done the other stuff the support article suggests, such as checking the disk?

Then back up IMMEDIATELY and look for a new one.

I have the same issue currently, I don't think the hardware is the issue - I think its steam. What you need to do first is go here:

Steam > Settings > Downloads > Steam Library Folders

What you then do is make sure your steamapps folder is your default install location, after that - begin the steam library folder repair process. Once it finishes, verify the integrity of the game that reported the "DISC WRITE ERROR" before attempting to retry your game update.

Spent 20 mintues on steam support for them to tell me the wrong then and for me to figure this out myself.

Edit: I just had to deal with this issue, I can 99% confirm its not a hardware issue.

restarting your machine in safe mode doesn't help any windows related issue. (i should know, i troubleshoot windows as a "hobby") and not once did safe mode actually help.

It does if your infected by a virus. Since you know about this kinda stuff do you use it with networking enabled or disabled?
