My Steam refund request processing has been delayed. Will they eventually reject my refund request?
Hi guys, here is a short summary of my situation:

Last Sunday, I bought Yakuza 0. It is a troublesome game to begin with as it cannot launch in my gaming laptop without it crashing or receiving file errors. After a week of futile troubleshooting, I decided to send a refund yesterday night.

When I sent my refund request, I immediately receive a response from Steam on my email saying they received my refund request. However, this part reads:

“Because you recently made a change to your account's security, your refund request's processing will be delayed to protect your account from unauthorized activity.”

It is because I changed my password last Sunday when I forgotten it. So apparently it is due to this issue.

So to bring to the point I want to clarify. If Steam delays my processing, will they delay to a point that the 2 weeks window have already passed? Or they process your refund based on the date of this request? Also, I just want to ask how long they may delay this request?

I just hope to get the refund soon as I don’t want a non-working game sitting in my Steam library. Thanks guys.

The processing will be done for the date submitted once the hold ends so since you submitted it before the 2 week mark it will count as before the two week mark regardless of when they get to it.

The rest of the business applies so don't run the .exe for more than 2 hours before then

Ok, the fact is, I only played the game for less than 30 minutes because of the stated issues. So it should fit the 2 requirements for a refund.

Only now concerned if the delay in the processing will affect the eligibility (2 weeks window) of the request.

You submitted the request within the timeframe so it shouldn't affect the refund at all.

Ok sure, thanks. I got it. Will wait for the request processing to finish instead.

Hey Gamer11 any updates? You got your refund within 3 days? Also have the delay thing here and I'm trying to find references on how much the delay is. :)

Making any account changes such as email, password etc. might delay the refund, from what we have seen.

If you want to see some estimates, look here :

Keep in mind the number of people that are home because of COVID 19 these days, so all this might take longer as everyone is having to make sacrifices.

Hi, I managed to get a refund long ago back in late Sep 2018. If the game is running properly again, may consider repurchasing it in the near future

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
