Can't download/install any games
Tried downloading a game on steam and it wont go through. At first it says "An error occurred while updating (no internet connection):" No Download Source.

Then I try to resume downloading it says, "An error occurred while updating (content servers unreachable )"

I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling steam. Still doesnt work. Turned on my old rig and started a brand new steam account. SAME PROBLEM. Used a hard wire connection to router, reinstalled my network drivers, and pretty much everything else I could think of.

Are the steam content servers down right now? Is anyone else running into this issue tonight?

I'm having the same problem. I thought it was my computer, since I just got a new one.
Seems like it's a Steam issue if it's happening to both of us and on at least three different machines.

Change your content servers, using VARIOUS servers, even ones further away from you.

Clear your download cache.

Report your results for both of these.

Thank you for the suggestion. Neither worked.
I also deleted everything in the steam folder except steam.exe and that didn't help.

Proceed to boot your PC in safe-mode with networking.

Launch Steam and test downloads, and as such, report your results.

Having the same problem as well. I've tried to change my content servers and cleared my download cache, I've also disabled my firewall and ensured that automatic proxy detection was enabled for my internet and none of these have worked. I cannot download any games.

This did not fix the problem either.

My problem eventually cleared up on its own. My internet must have just been doing some hard drugs.

It's not supposed to "fix" the problem. It was a test to see maybe where the problem is. It was suggested that you report your results. So more details of those results would be more helpful.

That is not bypassing a router. Totally get rid of the router, and run ethernet to the modem only. Process of elimination, step by step moving forward.

so i ended up fixing the issue. I turned my hotspot on my phone, started the download, and switched back to my wifi and it was fine. I also reset my modem and router before doing all of this. Hope this helps...

What kind of details do you need? As far as switching servers I tried all the north america servers and none of them worked

Let's go back to that post :

A user gave a suggestion that can be a good way to troubleshoot issues like this, and said for you to :

"Report your results".

Then you replied with this :

More details (results) than that would be more helpful. That's what I meant. Such as :

- Did you actually boot into safe mode with networking
- Are you using a router while booting into safe mode with networking ? (do not)
- What, if any, changes did you see in that boot
- Did you try many different download regions while booted into safe mode with netwroking, as well as some very far away

Other information would be helpful also, such as your operating system, including if 32 or 64 bit, and your computer network setup there such as is it home network, school ? Do you have a router or router/modem combo unit or other hardware such as extenders ?

- Do you have all your device drivers fully up to date (NIC lan) driver, while not using a router

All this is is process of elimination, really. Troubleshooting.

It will fix itself, I had the same problem and tried everything and nothing worked. Just start a download and let it sit. For me after about 10 min of 0.0 Mb/s the download started working perfectly. So just start downloading a game and give it some time, after a while it will start to download like it should.
