Steam games running slow after re-installing?
Ive currently uninstalled alot of my games to free up more space on my drive. I re-installed them on a diffrent drive and they're running very poorly (10 - 20 Fps) When they used to run around 60 fps.

You need to make sure security software such as antivirus or others are not causing issues on the new path where you installed the games. It's logical that this is the issue, because all you apparently did was change the drive where they are installed.

Also, if it is an external hard drive, that can be an issue also.

More details as to your setup there might help.

I checked my firewall and all the games that I've re-installed are allowed aswell as my antivirus.
I have a GTX 980m
Core i7
15.92 GB Ram

You didn't clarify if it's an external drive or not.

External drives are problematic for two MAIN reasons on Steam.

1) Performance can be affected severely.

2) Typically, with an external drive, they tend to disconnect and re-connect.

As such, Steam pings the drives constantly looking for libraries and updates.

If it doesn't see the drive, it assumes its offline and disconnects the library

What is the operating system, and is it 32 or 64 bit ? (I assume it is 64 from your RAM, but just asking to make sure.)

Post the exact model of this computer and the model number. Looks like a laptop, but we need to know so we can make sure all the drivers are up to date, maybe. Identify the computer here, please.

If a SATA driver update is needed, or the hard drive needs a firmware update, that might be the problem. So let's look at this that way, if you wish.

Also, what antivirus do you have installed ? Some are really problematic with Steam, even if exceptions are made, because they can have other processes that run in the background that can cause issues with games.

msconfig from Windows Start will show what is actually running, under services and startup (Task Manager in W10).

64 bit, Windows 10, I have an MSI All-in-one (I dont know how to find the model number) Its not a laptop. For my antivirus I just use the free version of Malawarebytes (I probobly need to get an upgrade.)

Go to the official MSI website and use the tools there to correctly identify the computer. Then post that link here.

We need this, especially since you said it is an MSI as we also need to see if it has a Killer Network Device.

Yep, under support and drivers, I see it does have a Killer Device. Do you have the Killer Network Access Manager Suite software installed on your computer ? Look for that program on your system and tell us if you have it installed.

Also, just so you know, you don't have to uninstall games and reinstall them to change drives like this, if you meant the same games in your OP above, and it seems you did.

You can simply move the game files in the future, doing so manually or using the automated feature in Steam. I prefer doing it all manually, but that is just me.

I have the Killer Network Manager. And thanks for the help, I orignally just uninstalled some games to free up space but decided to reinstall them so i did so on a diffrent drive.

You are welcome. Fully uninstall that Manager Suite, and then restart the computer. Make sure it is gone.

Then download the driver only from MSI and install that. Reboot the PC again.

Next, log into Steam and verify the game files for one game only. Test that game using the "play" button in your Steam library and tell us what happens.

Sorry, I should have specified. It's under "LAN drivers" on the page linked above.

Also, go ahead and download the driver now before you uninstall the Suite. I don't know if it is an .exe or a .zip file that you have to extract, so download it now just in case, first before you uninstall the Suite.

But since you have the Killer Manager software installed, does that also not mean that your device is a Killer Network (LAN) device ?

I should have asked first, but go to device manager and make sure you have a Killer Device for the network controller. There are three listed there as you see, because apparently, MSI might have different devices for different motherboards.

You have to be sure of what your's is, before you download the correct driver. It usually will just fail at installation anyway if you try to install the wrong one, but I still suggest you try to get the right one.
