Buying a game already in library
Why can't I buy a game already in my library?
I am going to gift it to a friend, but that friend does not have steam yet..
In the past I could purchase it and have it stored so I could send it later.

The person must have a Steam account to gift the game.

Inventory game gifts were removed last year in May.

Since May 2017 you can't store games in your inventory. That got changed due to some users massively exploiting it by buying discounted games for cheap and then re-selling them.

Now you must send a game gift immediately and the recipient must be on your friendlist for at least a few days.

I thought it only applied to digital gift cards and not games. At least that is what I did for my other alt account.

You can schedule a gift to be sent to your Steam friend on a specified date.

Not all games can be gifted.

Not until the account is made though.
