Dont know what you downloaded and what that changed though.
As for firefox and why kaspersky keeps saying the certifiactes are invalid I have no idea, I am running the latest Internet Secuirity Suite 2018, so everything should be updated antivirus wise side, the only other possible cause would be firefox being out of date since I'm running 52.9 ESR 32-bit, and that's the last version (or its equivalent standard counterpart) of firefox supported to run on a windows xp machine....no 64-bit binaries work either, not even the 64-bit binary of 52.9 ESR works because it'd just say it's not a valid win32 program or whatever bla bla... And having a browser outdated might say "Oh this certificate is invalid because it passes our use by date" or something....
So I can't update firefox to the lastest ESR or standard edition....
I haven't used the computer in a while, been only using my windows 7 machine, mainly coz I use that as my daily beater....it's only now that I feel like going back and continuing games I haven't finished that I started on my XP machine, only to find out they no longer work! The DRM-Free games do though, or at least games that are not dependent on the client to run, such as Terraria and Starbound(provided you had preinstalled them before the update), but other games like Borderlands Borderlands 2 and The PreSquel will NOT run even if you start the game using its direct exe file in its game directory...
And I wanted to play soem Borderlands 2.....haven't even finished the game yet!
So yeah, the only thing that HAS changed was just updating the client...oh and updating KIS to 2018 from 2014 I think it was or 2016 thinking that might be the cause of client not working as right or that the browser is being mean, but nope....even the latest edition of the antivirus software does not fix it....
The nostalgia is the the interface, the simplicity of it, how it's not so resource intensive, so effectively more responsive than a windows 7 machine using the same specs although that can be debatable of course, because obviously you won't be able to run the 2018 hardware on a windows xp operating system or a 1998 hardware with a windows 7 operating system...oh I suppose you could if you're good at modding and stuff, for example creating a driver or modding an existing driver to work with an older system, because you'll need that or else the new shiny 2018 hardware won't work correctly....unfortunately I'm no good at that so will have to live out hte remaining days like this...or rely on someone else to do the dirty work for me...hee hee...
But anyways, grew up with steam on a windows xp machine and it just feels right, minus the new flat ui system steam has decided to opt for to match the windows 10 systems which I dislike....but I have PixelVision to fix that with.......
I don't know it's just hard to explain otherwise, it's like coming back to an old game you really liked so much after 50 years (not that I'm 50 years old by the way...heh....just a figure of speech...)and you feel this what's the word? euro-something, I know it starts with the letter E, just don't know the word....?.......
I'm sure the same would have had existed when steam decided to cut windows 2000, windows 98SE and ME and even windows 95 before that from working!
But the games and the savepoints work on windows 7 too. So ingame you wont see a difference.
Yeah but it just doesn't feel the same because you're running windows 7 base and not windows xp base.....and because I already use windows 7 as my daily beater so don't really feel any different....
Update to windows 7

Oh and the by the way, what did you just do right now?
"My issue is more important than all the others in this forum asking for help right now, so I will just bump my own thread to the top when I need to make it so others will more likely see it, making it go to the top of the forum each time I do."
That is all I was saying. There are others here asking for help also. There is a hardware and OS forum also. Maybe try searching that forum for similar topics using the search feature. Surely someone has posted about this before there, the closer we get to the XP and Vista deadline.
"Sit the hell back down son, and read the rules; you will follow these rules to the T or by gods wrath I will eat you for breakfast!"
I guess I got the wrong impression from you, my bad....
Sure I will check the Hardware and OS forums, thanks....
Note you not liking the correct answer doesn't mean you didn't get one.
XP is unsupported by MS which is why the trusted root store hasnt been updated in years
The 'fix' for this problem is to upgrade to windows 7/10 because there's no reason to be on XP. You can finish your games fine on other OS.
