Recover Games from Windows.old
So I just went from Win7 to Win10 and all my games are on the HDD in Windows.old. Is there an easy way to recover these games from the file? I'd rather not reinstall everything. No I did not use a Steam Back up.

Have you tried installing Steam and taking the entire Steamapps folder and moving it to the new install location?
After an hour search I JUST found out about this on a website. Currently waiting to transfer 500gb and see how that goes!

Don't copy and paste if they're on the same drive. Cut and paste will be instant.

Well it wasn't instant but 20 minutes wasn't bad. Anyway now that I cut and pasted steamapps from windows.old to my current steamapps folder, none of the games are showing up, they are all grayed out.

Yea, if you ever need to do anything like this again, you have to do it with Steam closed. It can't recognize the new .acf files until you boot up Steam fresh. The steamapps folder is the key, as others above helped explain. Hope that helps, also.
