GIFT RECEIVED BUT NOT SHOWING IN STEAM
My friend gifted me a game (Monster Hunter World), I got the email saying he sent it but nothing has showed up in my steam client and when I try an add it to my library through a browser it give me an error and says it cant be completed at this time.

Perhaps they have revoked the gift? Ask your friend.

Any reason they why they would revoke? My friend said he hasnt seen anything that would point to the game being revoked or unretrievable

Im also trying to figure out how to talk to someone from steam support to fix this. They aint making this easy

does the game still show in his inventory? have you tried rebooting the Steam client?


have him check his purchase history to see if it was sent to a different account

he did purchase it through Steam, and not a key reseller right?

there can be several reasons, but the most common are chargebacks and payment disputes

I list few things.

A. When he sent you the gift, did you claim it? If not then that will be why. It's not automatically added to your account, it need you to confirm if you want to accept his gift, or not.

B. Did you try rebooting the Steam client? If not, may need a simple relaunch of the client.

C. Did your friend cancel / chargedback the game? He have to check his history.

So yeah, usually I get a pop-up that tells me that I have been sent a game and that I need to claim it. This did not happen within steam. The only notification I have gotten is an email saying that a game had been sent to me. When I tried to claim the game through my email (which sends me through my browser) this fails and I get a message saying that it cant be completed at this time.

I have reboot the steam client about 3 times now, still nothing.

I dont feel like its has something to do with my friend's payment option as I am getting the steam email saying that I have received the game and that I just need to claim it.

My friend was also online with me when he sent me the game and was just like wtf... this has never happened to either of us.

He even sent me a photo from his inventory showing it was sent to me

Ok, well tell him to refund it, and send it again when you're both online at the same time, might be an bug, or something.

@Big Papa Bear, did your issue ever get resolved? If so, can you tell me how you fixed it? a buddy of mine just bought and gifted me the game as well, and Im having the same exact issue. and yes, I tried all the fixes, Nothing is working. we did this about 6 hours ago, and Im still here with no gift notification on the steam client.

oh yeah, lol. we both feel kinda dumb. My friend sent it to an old account of mine and I didn't catch that when he showed me a pic of him gifting it to me...oops

You have to go to: 'Games' on top left, then click on 'Manage Gifts and Guest Passes' and you'll see your received gifts.

BTW, if you’re following some guide on how to farm awards or badges, just throw it in the nearest bin.
