Do we both need mobile authorization to instant trade

why do I am the one who send trade offers but it said my friends need mobile authorization ? Does that mean it's useless when only me had been authorized ?

People need to be on friend list for a year or so to get instant trading. If not you both need the authenticator.

Wrong. After one year of friendship, the trade hold is reduced to 24 hours.

Also on the matter, an authenticator is only necessary when giving something away. If you have an auth set up and want to gift an item to someone, who does not have one, there will be no hold.

Note that you should still be performing a trade in a single window. Anything you put in a trade asking for nothing in return is considered a gift, and should only be done if you expect nothing in return. People can cancel their trade holds.

wrong , i often trade tf2 items with strangers and its fine since we both have authentificator
