Steam profile picture won't change

I can't change my profile pic in steam, when I upload an image and when the upload is complete the picture don't change.

I've already tried many fixes that people reported before (https://; Resized the image to 184x184; https://steamcommunity.com/id/RealCaptainPrice/edit; tried to use different browsers; deactivated steam family share). None of those solutions helped me.

Just for you guys know how lucky I am, I have this account since 27 may, 2015 and I never changed my profile pic, yesterday I tried to change and I just noticed that im ♥♥♥♥ed.

PLS SOMEBODY HALP HELP HALP HELP!!!

- 07/05/2019 Update: Changed the topic answer to a accurate one, as you guys can see below. I see that many people is experiencing the same problem that i experienced a few years ago, just be patient and try to change your pic later.

the limitation of the image are less them 1024kb (1mb)
every common file format will work. common: jpg, gif, png

recommendation:
a square picture greater then 184px in png, no compression. that will most like give better quality results.

Steam will crop it to square if it wasn't one.
Steam will convert it to jpg @ 90% compression level in the sizes that Steam uses, 184, 64 and 32px.

why avatar upload fails?
the FileUploader script spits out Internal Server Error 500 quite often lately. you dont see that error since, but it is there.

the solution is to simply try it again later.

it usually fails when it is nighttime in Seattle Valve HQ and starts to work again over the day when it is business time.

As well as being 184x184 the image needs to not exceed something like 1mb or something in size so try changing its format from png to jpg or something too.

Just tried to upload a 10kb image, but it not worked either.

Apparently there's a bug preventing people from changing their avatars right now. Nothing can be done about it so you'll just have to wait for Valve to sort it out.

It doesn't make any sense that this has been happening off and on since 2015.
You'd think they would have done something to ensure that this wouldn't happen again.

I also can't change my avatar - I read in another thread that if you have Family View on, it won't let you - but I've never had Family View on and can't find where to turn it on/off in the first place to try cycling it.
