Steam denying to refund
Hi,
I bought Call of Duty WWII yesterday and Steam doesn't want to refund me.
I have downloaded the game and installed it, but, when I tried to start the game, I was always having one error that was crashing the game, saying "Disc read error: common".
I have then searched online for this error, and found out that if I installed the multiplayer, everything would be alright. And so it was.
The game properly but apparently my laptop graphics cannot support this game (intel uhd graphics 620) and it was running the game on a small screen resolution on the top left corner. I pressed the campaign button just to have a look and it runned for a few seconds the beginning of the story, but then I realised that the game wouldn't work on my laptop.
So, I asked steam for a refund, which they deny, saying that I played this game for 3 hours - which is completely impossible. I have NOT played this game, only ran the campaign mode for a few seconds.
The only possible way that this could have affected my playing hours, was when I was downloading the multiplayer version, I didn't close the error window ("Disc read error: common").
Can anyone help me please? I am completely desperate with this because it is so unfair. I am already sad because I can't play the game and these guys don't want to give me my money back... Thank you.

No, we can't. Steam has the final say and they already said no. Don't go over the given refund limits next time.

Play = game process running

They did not approve your request.

Bear in mind, if the game is open and is running; it's going to gain play-time.

This doesn't make any sense... I haven't played the game ffs.
What if I say that there was no error and there wasn't any window open with the game. How can they prove that I have played the game? It's so easy to check for them... I haven't played a single second of the multiplayer and the campaign mode ran only for a few seconds...

So any other questions or will that be all for today?
Your play-time would be displayed on your profile.

That's right. But isn't there like a gaming log where they can check that the game wasn't launched properly?

According to this, apparently the game is not even supported on your hardware in that computer, meaning you did not have the specs to run this game in the first place.

In some cases, the game will launch and "run" but you cannot really play it or play it well, due to not meeting the system specs of the game.

Always compare your hardware to that on the store page for the game, before you buy that game. If you need help after doing that, you can ask here if the game should run or run well on your system.

Just for next time, please.

You're absolutely right about that. I was naive to think that a 1500£ laptop would run this game without a problem...

How much the laptop costs is not really relevant, as you seem to see now. It's about what hardware is in that laptop, as well as the operating system.

Launching is launching. As the good gwait said, the process running = you playing the game and there is no way to prove otherwise.

People would just say "the game did not run properly" or "I was not really playing it all that time" and abuse the refund system into oblivion.

Macs are more than that and can barely play games from 5 years ago

Go to the Support page at the top. Then to PURCHASES. Select the game.
Choose "I have a question about this product". This allows you to write a ticket to Steam Support.
Explain the situation and wait till you hear back from them.
In cases like this they sometimes make an exception.
But if they refuse again take it as your final answer.
