How can I setup my Steam profile to make it look a bit more better? Does anyone have any tips to make it look more creative or appealing?

Ok thanks, what sort of things can I do though? I'm not looking to upload many images or anything, so I'm not going to go crazy with it, I just want to make it look more personalized and more appealing for friends.. and I don't want to spend a huge amount of time and/or money on it as I want to play some games!

By reaching level 10 on Steam, you will be given a profile showcase for you to change on your Profile Edit page.

Leveling up does take some time, so while you're at it craft some badges and purchase some trading cards and backgrounds.

Well I'm 'Steam Level 57' at the moment, yes, you may be thinking that I'm a bit strange as to why I'm asking what I should do to make my profile better when I'm such a high level compared to others, but I'm really struggling, everytime I think of something to put it looks too cheesy or professional, I'm starting to not be bothered about my profile but at the same time I kind of want to make it look nice but simple.. I know you can unlock showcases but in some ways I feel as if they kind of make the profile look ugly

I kind of regret spending so much money on these virtual trading cards now..

What do you think?

Ok thanks.. do you think it would be better of me to get a profile background for a game that I enjoy rather than just a random one? I would feel it's a bit pointless to apply a background for a game on Steam that you don't really have an interest in.. that's just my opinion.

I go for very colorful or bright Backgrounds, that's just because I want it to be very flashy. But yeah, it's better to actually make your Profile about the things you enjoy to play.

What about for the small things like my summary and avatar? When I get to the summary box I have no clue what to enter, and if I do something random it just sounds silly and stupid, I just want to get on with my life and play games and things, can't be bothered to spend hours on a little box that I'm not really bothered about, I guess I just leave it blank if I have nothing to say?

And as for the avatar, do you know any good places where I can find some images relevant to my name? I kind of want my avatar to have a glitchy-tech theme, like a computer malfunctioning but comedic or at least a little funny at the same time, for example, I wouldn't just want a picture of a computer malfunctioning as that wouldn't be funny, I would like some sort of funny type of face on that image to make it look more interesting and to go with the style of my Profile Name..

I used to spend alot of time on my profile lol, but then I sorta gave up.
If you're going for a Neon / Tech-kinda theme, I guess your description could be a quote from a game or a movie from that cyber-like genre. You could also just roll with the simple bio "Yo whadup, im 12 and I like to play games"
As for Avatars, I usually make my own in Paint. I like making big pixilated characters. But that's totally up to you.

When editing your description, remember that you can use Text Formatting to make it a bit more flashy, bold or have blue color.

Yes, I get what you mean, I've been going through a whole load of editing and things just wouldn't seem right to me for some reason.. like after editing my whole profile I would look at other people's profiles and they look more authentic and just.. better for some reason, I think it's usually the profiles which lack much information and don't take it too seriously.. maybe that's what I want to do. I don't think you're meant to edit it so much anyway, it was designed to just be edited every now and then or rarely, or to be left alone for a very long period of time/forever if you weren't too bothered about the look of it/updating it..

As for the summary, I think I would prefer the simple summary if I knew what to say about myself, but everytime I usually try to do it there's really nothing to say, and I don't like saying what my age is, so I'm considering just leaving it blank as I wouldn't want to force myself to enter something which just sounds silly or stupid.

Again if you're not really going to use your profile, you can just leave it blank, that's what most of my friends do, even though they are above lv 40 and could do alot with it.

Yeah.. I done that once when my profile was public and I was 'Steam Level 40' at the time, someone sent me a friend invite here on Steam and asked me why my profile was blank and said that I should do more with it, as I had no avatar/no showcases and profile backgrounds applied..

I guess I'm just going to go through it and if I have nothing to say, for example, the summary, I will just leave it blank. It's better to say nothing than to say something you think will sound stupid/make it look ugly if you know what I mean.. same for showcases, if I apply like two out of the five I can currently use, just because they're there doesn't mean I need to use them..

Use as many showcases as possible, find an interesting background. Have the profile items you pick be kind of color-coordinated with the back-ground.

Make everything public.

I think it's best to show what games you like, primarily I want steam friends that have similar taste in games so when there are good new games then I have a good chance of finding out about it on my activity feed.
