How to transfer games I bought physical copies of?
I bought dark souls 3 physical copy and ran it on my laptop, it asked for the cd key, I entered it, it asked me to put in the discs one by one and after that the game was ready to be played. Everything was in harmony.

Until I bought a new PC which doesn't have a dvd drive where I can enter the discs. Now, the only way to play the game seems to be to stream it, which my poor old laptop really can't handle. Is there any way I can transfer the game from my laptop to my pc using USB? I tried copying the game folder from steamapps and pasting on my new gaming pc but that didn't seem to work

I'm a noob when it comes to this ♥♥♥♥.

One solution I do have in my mind is that I'll just make virtual copies of the discs I have and then mount them one by one into my new gaming pc. That probabloy isn't gonna work, tell me if it's not.

Thanks in advance

Any response will be appreciated

How about an external CD drive, if your computer has none? Those don't cost that much, and you might need it more than this one time.

You don't Stream it, you download it through Steam. It is the sam data as on the disk.

After you enter the key for a game, you don't even need the disks anymore.

So, like, if I click on stream, steam will just download the game to my new pc?

you dont need to install from disc to play the game. you use the same account on your pc as on your laptop then the game is in your library to download.

to make it easier use the files of your laptop:

you need the game folder under steamapps / common aswell as the appmanifest_xxx.acf from steamapps to have steam recognise the game is "installed".

copy both onto your new pc while steam is not runnin then launch steam. game should list as installed. pls verify game cache once to make sure it launches 1st time setup
