Can't you see that on your own in your account? Like... every games you activate and buy will appear in your list. I believe it comes with the date of the activation. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Edit: Found it. (Not a link, find it): Home > Account > Licenses and product key activations. You go there by clicking on your name then account details then you'll see this: View licenses and product key activations. Click that for all of your key activations and date that you activated it.

Yes, right here :

https://store.steampowered.com/account/licenses/

If you have a key that's already activated by someone else.. You're out of luck.

Steam will not provide you with that information. The seller you bought from already knows this. He is trying to distract you, so he can make a clean getaway with your money,

Yeah. As edited. But I believe anyway that what OP asks for is the actual original key activation (which would not be shown on his own account) so it's a bit my bad. I got a moment of dumb.

Am I crazy or did Steam add just this sort of thing to let people get back at key sellers that screwed them over? I have a memory of a page where you could do exactly this but I might just be misremembering..

I believe it’s only used for account recovery purposes

I have heard that support has started to provide that information if you contact them. I suggest submitting a support ticket.

That might be what I'm thinking of... Unless this page shows it: https://store.steampowered.com/account/registerkey

Yes; and if you can prove you purchased it, like with a receipt, etc, they remove it from the original person's account and add it to your own (atleast, I think that happened in one case.)

Unless there's a specific support page around this issue, it's just a rumor.

Contact support and make your case. I sincerely hope that duplicate key seller is gonna get punished for it. And for future purchases, please stick to steam store or isthereanydeal.com
