Games won't start; needs steam client bootstrap? Help please.
Hi there, I'm in a bit of trouble. I recently downloaded steam on a new computer, and then tried to download the game Lucid9: Inciting Incident. The game was free, so I simply clicked play now. Instead of downloading the game, a message popped up saying that I needed the steam desktop app (if that's what you call it). I downloaded steam TWICE and nothing changed. Finally, I realized that I had a properly working steam account on my computer downstairs. I downloaded Lucid9 and figured that it would then appear in my account upstairs so then I wouldn't have to go through the process of downloading it. When I click play now on the computer upstairs, it asks me if I meant to change apps and said that Microsoft edge is trying to open steam client bootstrapper. If you click yes, nothing happens. If you click no, nothing happens. I then figured that I needed to download this shady "steam client bootstrapper". The only place to download it is on files.org, and is sponsored by "slimware". I found out that slimware was a scam, and the only other place to download it is on valve, but I can't find the link for it on valve either. Nobody else seems to have this problem, and I really am quite stumped. I would very much appreciate help or knowledge in this subject.

Microsoft edge. As embarrassing as it is to say, my parents have this computer on qustodio. Could that be part of the problem?
If you're using Microsoft Edge, that's just the browser. Right-click the icon on your desktop for Steam and hit "Open file location" and tell us that location.
what do specs and OS mean? (I'm not very savvy with this kind of thing).
I'll find file location right now.

GPU, CPU, OS, motherboard, etc.
Ok it's in local disk and inside of that it's in program files (x86). When I click on it, nothing happens.
You have to double-click it.
Oh hey a login screen appeared after a really long delay. It says that it couldn't connect and is giving me an option to reconnect. Before I do that, is it not working because I'm already logged in?

For your question, no. Try reconnecting.
Ok. Here goes nothing. (A million thanks for helping me. You guys are amazing :)
Umm... Got a thread creation failed message? And the login disappeared before I could refresh?

Reinstall steam.
Ok. I'll delete everything and start over. Or just reinstall without deleting anything?
