Games won't start; needs steam client bootstrap? Help please.
Hi there, I'm in a bit of trouble. I recently downloaded steam on a new computer, and then tried to download the game Lucid9: Inciting Incident. The game was free, so I simply clicked play now. Instead of downloading the game, a message popped up saying that I needed the steam desktop app (if that's what you call it). I downloaded steam TWICE and nothing changed. Finally, I realized that I had a properly working steam account on my computer downstairs. I downloaded Lucid9 and figured that it would then appear in my account upstairs so then I wouldn't have to go through the process of downloading it. When I click play now on the computer upstairs, it asks me if I meant to change apps and said that Microsoft edge is trying to open steam client bootstrapper. If you click yes, nothing happens. If you click no, nothing happens. I then figured that I needed to download this shady "steam client bootstrapper". The only place to download it is on files.org, and is sponsored by "slimware". I found out that slimware was a scam, and the only other place to download it is on valve, but I can't find the link for it on valve either. Nobody else seems to have this problem, and I really am quite stumped. I would very much appreciate help or knowledge in this subject.

Are you logged into the Steam client itself?

My name is hovering in the top right corner. Does that mean I'm logged in?

Do you see, "STORE" "LIBRARY" "COMMUNITY" "FISHD100" at the top?

You are using a browser then.

Open the Steam client app.

Thank you. I'll see if this works. Will it stop asking me if I mean to change apps?

Hmm, I thought I did that already. I did it twice, in fact. Am I not accessing it from the right files?

I even have the shortcut on my desktop, except it won't open. I'm really confused. @_@

When I try opening it I get errors saying that I could not connect to steam network. My internet is fine. What in the world is going on?

BTW Bootstarter is basically the Steam Clinet
Its not called like that in the download as bootstarter is the process

On any case maybe your anti virus is blocking Steam from running or the like? is the PC there rurnning on Windows?
