Email about "Recent changes to your Steam account"
I've received an e-mail which falsely accuses me of wanting to sell my Steam Account. Outlook was smart enough to filter it out to my spam box but I noticed something weird.

The e-mail used was actually steam's official noreply e-mail.

If you look at the image you can see it's the same e-mail used for confirming purchases or changes to your account.

https://prnt.sc/jc22po

When clicking the url of the steam support page in said e-mail it redirects to an http page ending with steam-account . top/login.

This is not a safe SSL connection which Valve uses for all steam pages. I believe that a party or person successfully managed to spoof the e-mail used by Valve for steam support.

It is highly recommended for other people who have received this e-mail to ignore it. It's close to the real thing and in fact it even has the real thing as the sender.

Valve, please look into this issue as it could mislead many users.

Ignore it and do NOT click the link within it to lock or recover your account.

It is FAKE.

You should also remove that link from your original post.

I know, if you read my post it's basically what I wrote.

Done, only left a portion of the URL so people know what it's about and that it's fake.

Might want to break it a little bit more so that the forum doesn't recognize it as a clickable link.

Trying to warn users will always fail as they normally don't use the forums before seeing things like that.

Good intentions but almost never works.

Yeah it's fake, trust me, I had this happen to me as well and immediately brought it up on this very forum. It is almost compeltely convincing, which is the scary thing...but since my e-mail also put the fake one I got in junk mail, I was able to figure immediately that something wasn't quite right.

Good of you guys to ask here first. Kudos for that, as sadly, we often see this when it is too late, and the user has already fallen for the scam.
