Problems with joining to friend's game

We have a pretty weird situation with joining to each other with my friend. If you can help us, thank god, you're awesome and thank you for your help sooo much!!

First of all, it's not consistent, some days it works and we can play without any problems, but mostly it doesn't and we just play diablo 3 or some non-steam games, those work fine even when steam won't join. There were even a few days when we could play in the morning, and couldn't at night and vice versa.

However, to confuse minds even more, we can always join other people's rooms! There's nothing wrong with that. The problem only occurs when we try to join each other, random people's multiplayer sessions works like a charm.

We tried to reinstall the games, reinstall steam, reboot pc, reboot router, set port forwarding in router settings, digged around in firewall settings, UPnP is on, even hamachi didn't work. Guess steam just wants some days off.

The connectivity issue we get includes games where the friend hosts said game and you can join via either steam friend invite, or Join Game option from friend list. We are trying to play the following games:
- Terraria
- Total War Warhammer
- Human Fall Flat
- Sid Meier's Civilization V

Whoa that was fast, thanks :D Game details and comments is set to "Friends only" everything else is "Public" for me. I'll ask my friend when he gets back.

There is also an invite bug with private profiles still. So users would have to at least go friends only.

This setting is probably not the cause of the problem. My friend has it on "Friends only" too.

If anybody still encounters this error and tried the usual stuff (check and update privacy settings, re-install steam, check lan settings and the other stuff....):

Had the same problem too. Fix for me + friend: Remove friendship in steam and add as friend again. Worked like a charme.

I Have this issue now and none of these worked and mine is consistent but its only that me and my dad cannot play together
