To play games I like. It's what Steam is, a platform to buy & play games.

Just because someone wants to use Steam to play games doesn't mean that they're obligated to divulge their life story, personal details, social security number and mother's maiden name to everyone on the internet.

Users had private profiles before this update. Anyone who has a problem with that, should take it up with those individuals.

Or, you can make it private or friends only. If you have a Steam account, then you have a profile, even if it is private and no one can really "see" anything.

True, you got a point there.

One downside to this, is helping people in the forums here. Very often, being able to check a user's recent game history, or library, helps us to find out what the problem is when people post for help.

Now, we are less likely to be able to see that information and will have to ask them to make it visible, if they have their profile set where we cannot see such information.

I am sure others have already thought of this, but I can see some cases of helping others being interesting.

I don't like this update. One of my favorite things to do on steam was comparing game time with others. Checking what games other people played, exploring their gaming page. It was never toxic. For me game time is a cool thing, oh you played 1000h on golf with friends, awesome man i played 1000h on eso. I dunno, for me this sucks because it took away half of steams function for me :/ well well
