Also, it depends on whether the publisher links the beta to the main game. If they keep it seperate then beta time shouldn't count towards the main game, but if they do, then the time counts.
Your best bet is to try and submit a support ticket to get a refund if the game in question hasn't been released yet.
I already did a ticket to get it refunded and they denied it, I'll try again but....I'm really dissappointed that I even have to, if these tickets are handled by actual people, this should have been a no-brainer.

Not the refund ticket, but a regular support ticket.
