All of my games are crashing
Not on startup, but several minutes into the game, on the regular, multiple times per session, sometimes it boots me back to the main menu, sometimes its requires me to restart my pc. Cant alt+tab out, cant clt+alt+delete. Ive noticed that if i have spotify open and playing music spotify will stop too. I dont recall any big changes to my pc that would create these issues. This stuff started yesterday, but before yesterday it was all running just fine.

you're overtaxing your computer. you need more RAM. you might also have a virus that's using a ton of ram hidden on your comp.

How can it be RAM when i could run all these games just fine, with spotify, discord and firefox all opened just earlier this week?

Then it does not sound like an issue specific to Steam. The helpful Yuiko above, could be correct.

Have you scanned your PC lately ? Malwarebytes in safe mode, is a good start.

This does not give much detail as to what exactly you did, and how exactly you did it, please.

It might not be an infection. From what you have posted so far, it sounds like the system is freezing up.

If it is locking up and is requiring you to restart your PC, that sounds like a hardware issue or infection, possibly.

Have you checked the hard drive for any errors ?

Use Windows to check the drive's health. Scan for and fix issues, where possible.

Yea so i ran a scan with malwarebytes and it couldnt find any sort of virus or anything

Did run chkdsk [drive that contains my steam install and library] /r

so some games, its a crash that requires a restart, some its a freeze then the game continues (only to freeze again later on), some (depth particularly) upon joining a match, it freezes (displays the windows 7 busy cursor icon) then disconnects me back to the main menu. I'll try uninstalling everything, uninstalling steam and reinstalling it all again tomorrow after I wake up.

But apparently, you did not use safe mode to scan in, from this above.

You should really use safe mode when actually looking for infections and with Malwarebytes.

I assume the hard drive did not report errors then.

So apparenlty you have Windows 7. Are all device drivers up to date on that ? Post the exact computer you have, model and model number. If custom built, post the exact motherboard.

Go to Help in the top of Steam. Select "system information", right click and "select all" then "copy" and "paste" all that here, please. Let's see the specs on your PC, as that will show.

How about posting your specs ? Otherwise everyones just guessing. Any error messages and/or notifications when they lock up ?

You may want to keep a close eye on that drive and backup any important data. If the drive is failing or on it's early stages of failing, you will want to make sure you keep important data.

Thanks for the reply as to what you did to fix it. That may help others. :steamhappy:
