so yesterday i got this message:

and after that i saw that my name was replaced with numbers. why on earth did my name got replaced by numbers when i see people named adolf hitler, osama bin laden, f*** your mom and similar playing with no censorship ????

your name right now is pretty offensive too. steam doesn't have time to look over every single name, if it's offensive, report it, and it'll be dealt with in a couple days.

how is it offensive ? did i insult anyone based on his religion, nationality, looks, financial situation or whatever ? did i name and shame anyone ? i might as well have a name that say i throw rocks at my grandma... is that offensive ? did i insult anyone ? no i didn't, at least not directly. if you ask me someone from steam support got butthurt probably and abused his moderating powers for a personal vendetta

It doesn't matter whether you intended to do so directly.

If someone GOT offended by whatever it was (and it must have been a doozy to be removed into numbers like that) and reported it, AND whoever reviewed it saw how awful it was, there's your answer.

Don't make offensive names.

Suggesting you commit violence because someone might be overweight crosses a line too. If you want to post hateful stuff then go get yourself a server on some dodgy webhosting service that will let you do so, but don't post it here, because the owners of this website didn't give you permission to post offensive content on their servers.

Why people post about this in the fourms will always be a mystery to me. You , OP, have the answer right there. What do you expect us regular users to do about it ?

Follow rules = don't get banned/content removed.
