Can you get hacked by adding someone on steam as friends?
I was playing a game the other day, when 2 people wanted to add me. They said they wanted a 4 man squad. I am just afraid, that they can do something against me. For example hacking.

I'm with the Giving One here, by the way. Steam accounts don't get hacked. They get given away by gullible fools and said fools, either too proud or too stupid to admit they screwed up, claim the account was hacked to shift the blame.

Steam accounts are not "hacked". It's just a misused word. If you don't give out your account details, or click on links in chat for example, or do other things that you yourself can do that will compromise your account, then you don't have to worry about others taking it from you.

That’s kind of the thing. I do suffer a little from hacking paranoia. Which makes me nearly have zero friends on steam :(

And as general rule - ppl that can actually hack, dont brag about it nor do they warn you to hack you. They simply do.
Also the ppl that are that good in hackign that they can do this, dont go for unimportant persons like you where they have nearly nothing to gain by wasting so much time. The hack ppl from which they can gain a lot like hacking a company and steal informations to sell it to competitors.

Tip: Drop the paranoia. Paranoia is bad as in it limits what you can do and there's no upside. I am serious. While caution has the upside of you staying safe, paranoia has no upside at all, there's only disadvantages to that. Drop it.

Quite: saying that people are being rude you could add to most any thread here.

being afraid of your computer being hacked is not irrational. it's being aware. 😁

I've been hacked before just from adding someone to my friend's list. I didn't click on the link or anything, Russian guy just send me a screenshot with my information. I text team support and they said indeed I've been breached.

That is just not possible to get "hacked" just by "adding a friend."

As someone who has seen the darkest parts of the web, and some of the best hackers to touch computers, you are wrong. It’s possible to get hacked by just about anything these days. Hell 10 years ago I opened my laptop and a message popped up saying “I’m ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ your computer up” and then my drives all crashed. I had to take the computer back and get a new one. That was 10 years ago.

Can’t imagine how when I bought it brand new and hadn’t downloaded any software yet. Fresh out the box. I connected it to the internet and logged into my stuff. But I can see you’re just another troll so have a good night kid.
