Microsoft Hololens
Hey Steam Community,

At some days ago I'de doing some essays with win_PE images, wich runs a Windows NT system from memory directly, then I found on win ADK and win_PE image design tools a feature wich allows to include desktop apps to win_PE images (wich I cannot reach until this time) . On that environment we can add both Microsoft and third party apps to the image, some native msft systems include this device called 'Hololens' that resembles a VR device, wich differ from the last by the interaction with the room and environment around, and so by allowing some number of users to access the same application at the same time. This news makes me wanna play old board and card games (war, chess, poker etc), that I beleave don't makes so much success more on desktop systems. Does Steam or Valve have some thoughts in being partner with Microsoft on this device features and capabilities? If not, perhap it's time!

The Hololens games available at the current time are developed by a MSFT partnership with Unity engine, if I'm not mistaken I don't see any game lauched by it engine until now on Steam. I'm developing a device and in the process I get the win_PE for arm architectures and the deployment of the application for add apps to win images, wich before it was impossible because the win_PE just runs legacy apps by default. I'm still with some bugs wich are stopping the edition of the image on DISM, the main file with the app path and profile are not found by the system on command line. I'm here on Steam with an issue from MSFT, but if one without the other, I wasn't here with it.

Doesn't really depend on the platform, but the game itself. The game developers decides which VR systems they wants to support. Valve or Steam has no say in it.
Considering that Microsoft does not plan to release Hololens for gaming in the foreseeable future, i doubt many developers would be willing to support one or two owners of that setup.

Hololens is considerably more expensive than any VR headset on the market. It is also for business use and isn't marketed towards gamers. Highly unlikely any game developers would spend coding their software to accept input from a device that only a very small minority would have access to.

Also keep in mind Hololens has a smaller FOV and lower refresh rate than current VR headsets.
Hololens is AR. Valve had an AR team but cancelled the project and let the staff go with all technology and patents to start their own company. Valve decided, quite publicly, that VR is the way forward for gaming. Don't expect them to jump on the Hololens train.

Thanks for the link page. I don't know the reasons why Valve give it up, such sadness the cut of that team. Perhaps, because the time/speed of assembling the device in a high performance like the Oculus and the common VR devices level. Or the project was too experimental by far, if compared with the Hololens, as example, on the subject from users input/controller system. The Hololens have a system controlled by hand, no other device is needed, wich is fantastic.
