Can't Send Gifts
Hello,

I know there has been a few of these kind of discussions but I needed to open this discussion anyway.

I am a Steam user for many years. Almost since it was released. Since I don't use credit cards, I have purchased all the games I have with my Steam Wallet which I've obtained through Steam Wallet Gift Cards from several Steam resellers. (Yes, official resellers. Nothing shady. )

Once I see a good game, I like to gift it to my friends. (I may have gifted Senua's Sacrifice to over 20-30 friends) However, because of the latest Steam changes, I can't gift a game to my girlfriend. It says unexpected error and when I contact Steam support, they replied me saying that I was using gifting for commercial reasons. I wasn't.

I know there has been a lot of shady gifting/selling going on but this change effects regular users who are not using credit cards, such as myself.

Do any of you guys know any solution without involving credit cards?

Thank you all in advance.

No. External payment methods only.

Support told you everything you need to do. No one else can do anything about it.

Somehow everybody thinks they're some sort of exception. Of course all the others are the shady ones.

Steam Support is the one you should be talking to, nobody here can help you.

Steam has just added the new rules to the gifting system without any announcement. A Limit has currently been set when you send gifts by using the wallet funds. The limit is calculated by an unconfirmed formula which your total gift purchases must not over your own purchases X 1.8, your activity will be automatically counted as unusual if the limit is exceeded and your account will be regarded as commercial use.

You can only send gift by directly pay with other methods other than using the wallet funds.
Freedom and right of using the wallet funds has been nerfed.

You can add the wallet funds by your credit cards, but you cannot use that wallet funds to send gift other than using the credit cards directly. That is ridiculous and this is a degeneration of a open market.

"Unconfirmed"

Correct. Just a bunch of nonsense.

You can enter this post to take a look. Several users have the same problem and has asked steam support for help.

Do not over expect the users here that can help you. 80% of the users do not read the problems objectively and think that you must have violated the SSA so steam blocked your account for gifting, anything you want to explain is just excuse. Also, they just ignore the irrationality of steam for adding the hidden rules and new limits without notifications. There are kind of unreasonable argument you can see in that post. When something unfairness happened to them, they may cry as a baby and no one can help.

We do read.

We just understand that the system has NOT changed.

As the OP's already been answered by Support, with enough information accurate to their situation, there's nothing more to add.

The solution to getting your girlfriend a gift is to start buying her steam wallet gift cards she can redeem for herself.

So wait, why not give the Steam Wallet card to your GF and let her redeem it on her account? That is an option.

"(I may have gifted Senua's Sacrifice to over 20-30 friends)"

..... 'gifted'. A 30 dollar game, to 30 people?

Yeah, no.

Yeah, no.

It is not 30 dollar game in my country. It is roughly 8-9 dollars. So, yes.

Thank you for your help! You may be one of few who actually read what is written instead of blindly arguing. Cheers.

So you ARE a reseller, then?

Yes. It means that you can buy something and illegally 'gift' it to people who pay you - when they should be buying it at the price they must pay in their country.

That's strictly against steam's terms of service.

Do you even know what you are talking about? Do you even have a brain? A game being 8-9 dollars in my country means that game is 8-9 dollars in my country. Nothing more. How did you reach to conclusion of me being a reseller?

The game is cheap in my country. I live in a country where the game is cheaper. Either I buy it or gift it I will do so with the same amount of money. Are you not aware that Steam changes prices on different countries?

Senua's Sacrifice is 49 TRY in my country. That makes roughly 9 dollars. When I gift it to my friends, I will spend 9 dollars from my wallet.

Now take your one digit IQ and live somewhere else. Honestly I'm surprised you are still alive.

That creature is the most unreasonable, narrowed minded creature. With the ignorance and shortsighted vision, it's comments do not contain any points and only here to blah blah blah. Nothing helpful, logic zero and only here for blaming.

It ignored the changes of steam hidden rules and new limits added and quibble these as "enforcing rules". It even thought that the gifting quantity is "Too lot" only base on it's sense and it's financial condition.

You can see those jokes in the previous post.
