Game Crashing to random color screen
About 4 days ago, I noticed a problem with some of my steam games. I was playing Rainbow Six Siege when my primary monitor turned dark blue, and my other monitor turned light blue. I thought nothing of it and restarted my computer. Today I was playing Dark Souls 3 and it happened on two separate occasions, requiring two restarts. Has this happened to anyone else? It's been pretty annoying.

TL;DR Games crash and cause monitors to turn solid color requiring restart.

Was there any text at all on those blue screens ?

No, just solid colors, no game audio or text or anything. Could it be a GPU issue perhaps since it only has happened in games?

Could be. Hardware such as PSU also should be considered.

PSUs do fail over time. But usually, this will cause the whole PC to shut down. You play something graphically intensive, such as games, the GPU requires more power, the PSU cannot provide this extra power and then.....

But so far, that does not seem to be the case, as you said the games just crash but the PC does not shutdown.

Is that about right ?

Are your GPU drivers and OS fully up to date ?

I updated my NVidia drivers this morning when prompted, but the update was after the first instance and before the most recent instance of the issue.
I also did a clean window installation 2 weeks ago, and am up to date.
I use a low power GPU with a 450W PSU, so I doubt that's the issue.
The PC remains on when the colors appear.

Windows 10 ?

If not, then cleanly reinstalling Windows would also mean you need to get all the other device drivers from the manufacturer's website, and installed and fully up to date.

Go to "help" in the top of Steam. Then "system information". Right click, select all, then copy and paste all that here, please.

This bothers me a bit. If Windows updated your on board GPU also, that maybe can cause conflicts. This is what I don't like about Windows 10 and driver updates.

I have been told that newer systems can use multiple GPU drivers fine in some cases. But you really only need the GTX card anyway. So that might be your problem.

EDIT...Sorry, this is assuming that you are not running 2 cards in SLI.

Haha I would get a better card instead of running 1050TI in SLI.
But I'll check BIOS to make sure it's only using my main card.

Yes, check the BIOS settings and you can also try to simply disable the other GPU from Device Manager.

Sorry about the SLI thing, but I had to mention that to cover the possibility.

If all else fails, and I mean all else, a clean reinstall of GPU drivers might be needed, but you have to do this in a certain way, using safe mode, and with a tool such as DDU.

But again, save that as a last resort. It's not a big deal to do, I just don't want to suggest anything unnecessary.
