[workaround found] "sub-windows" not showing on windows 10 taskbar?
I have no idea how to call those windows, it's the separate windows you can get in the store or in the community parts that open with Ctrl+click.

I had to do a full cleanup of the computer, meaning reinstalling from the OS itself, and now that I reinstalled steam I found out that it no longer works as before.
Other steam windows like settings for games and such properly show on the taskbar but these windows do not, despite being there when using alt-tab for example.
I tried going through the settings but nothing seems to have anything to do with it.

These windows are really helpful when needing to check something else without having to use an external browser, but if they don't appear in the task bar it is a significantly less interesting feature.
I am assuming there is something very obvious I missed either in windows 10's settings or in steam's but I can't seem to be able to figure it out.

Hopefully someone will be able to help me with this, many thanks in advance.

EDIT: since someone didn't like "solved" I put "workaround found", which pretty much means the same thing for me ("now there is a way to make it work") but apparently "solved" meant "fixed by steam/microsoft" for others.

It's getting weirder, having some of these windows opened and forcing the explorer to restart does make the ones already openned appear on the taskbar, but any that are opened after that are still not showing.

I guess it means the problem is probably on windows' side instead of steam, so I might find a way if I continue to dig, but not being great at finding the right key words for google searches it is probably taking me a lot of time for something very easy to do.
If anyone is interested, I finally managed to solve it by going into "Settings", "System", then "Multitasking".
I had to put "All desktops" in the first of the two options at the bottom.

I still have absolutely no idea why somehow either steam or windows was saying "these new sub-windows are not part of the current desktop for the taskbar but they are for alt+tab", but I hope this will be helpful to someone else one day, so they don't spend over 4 hours looking into every nook of both steam and windows.
Thank you for this. I had this exact problem and wasn't getting anywhere with my searches.

It is! Thank you very much!

Works fine on my Win 10 PC.

:qr:
It also worked fine on my new computer (native windows 10 this time instead of being a computer made around 8.1 with 10 installed on it).
It's probably one of those weird issues that is caused by a lot of small factors that nobody pays attention to, making it hard to even figure out the cause before even speaking about fixing it.
just middle-clicked a few times... it always makes a tab, but most of the times it promptly disappears into the void. some links have higher chance of making a tab. bug no doubt.

i wonder what made you think twice about it. i advised for that weeks ago.

when you get home and shove you head up your ass, you can use whatever terminology satisfies you. but in front of the world, it is proper to use the right one. also "solved" marked threads do fade away from the focus and dont get attention by the people who are supposed to fix the problem.
i still have this issue. the workaround is not satisfying, as it changes the functionality of my entire operation system. so my interest is, that this thread, pops the eyes out of the people, that need to fix their software.

I have no idea...
your wording provoked my wording. choose your next words carefully and dont blame me for the aftermath. when you have no idea and "someone" comes to give you one, ... behave properly.

you can also see the dictionary for "workaround" and "solve". it might help you see the difference. there are also wikipedia articles.

and last, but not least, you edit is still done wrong, as it just mocks me, it does not say anything about the workaround and its shoved at the end, wasting people's time to read your wall of text.
Funny that you accuse me of personal attacks when you are doing the exact same, but I guess I should have expected this kind of returns when all I did was share an issue and the way I found to fix it.
Thank you very much for being part of the people that like to hit on the messenger, teaching them a valuable lesson that they should by all mean delete the thread once they found their solution or at the very least make sure to unsubscribe so that when someone comes to piss on them they won't be seeing it.
