Charged on credit card and PayPal for the same purchase, Support isn't helping
Recently bought Tekken 7 with PayPal. All was fine, and the money was deducted from my PayPal wallet immediately. Shortly after, I got notified by my bank app that I was charged on my credit card for the same amount I just paid through PayPal. I tried to contact Support about this, but after filling out the form, I would get the "Please enter a valid exact charge amount" (despite the fact that the charge amount is correct) message and never manage to get support for this problem Any help?

Is your ticket to support still open?

If so, then wait for reply.

I never managed to contact support at all. They'd say the amount I was putting on the form wasn't valid and not send my request.

What does your purchase history say? PayPal or Credit card?

Also, are you sure your PayPal isn't linked to your credit card?

the purchase history only mentions the paypal charge, and yes the card is linked, but the full price of the purchase was deducted from the paypal wallet. it's essentially charging me twice

If your credit card is NOT saved on steam, then your issue is with paypal.

Why? PayPal worked as intended, Steam's the one who charged my credit card for some reason

yeah thinking the same - He purchused through PP and PP got the balance to cover the transaction then from the CC.

Yeah the logical thing here is that there was not enough in the PP account to directly charge, and thus: since Paypal is connected to that card... pretty sure that is how this works, OP.

You might try asking specifically Paypal support, to see your transaction histories.

But there was more than 4 times the game's worth in my wallet. So much so that that money went to steam immediately after I hit purchase. I siomply got charged again on my credit card for full price. Also why is the credit card even involved when I selected the PayPal wallet as my payment method? That's odd.

WHEN was that specific money actually put there?

Because it may not have actually 'cleared'.

This is a Paypal issue, not a Steam issue. If you specifically asked Steam to use paypal and it COULDN'T, that's the only reason this would have happened - unless you mis-clicked, and instead THINK you were using paypal for it.

Go to PayPal on their website. Pull up your PP transaction history.
Dispute one of the charge, best would be the CC charge.
Go to your CC company website, pull up your transaction history, dispute the duplicate charge.

Do both, and follow all instructions PayPal and your credit card company give give you.
Your issue is with PayPal. It sounds like they had a processing error.

Not a good idea. If the charge to Steam is disputed, the account will be locked from adding game or making any purchases. This can be for a few weeks (4 or 6, can't recall) to permanent if the chargeback is not reversed.

If you click on the game in you support section, there should be an option to contact support about the purchase. You can explain the issue there.

I suggest checking with Paypal first and make sure Paypal didn't charge the credit card for the purchase.

Steam won't charge both forms of payment for a transaction.

Yeah, most likely it's just PayPal fetching the money.

Works the same for me, except that there's no "credit card" involved: Steam gets the money from PayPal, and PayPal fetches the money from my bank account.

Why would the "fetch" the money from my credit card if I paid the full value immediately with my paypal balance? I'm just mad at this point.

Depends on how it is set up on PayPal.

I suggest calming down and checking our suggestions. Getting mad is not going to help figure out where the issue is, let alone get it resolved.
