New to PC gaming. Any tips?
I've always been a console gamer but I've always known PC gaming is superior. I got a decent gaming PC for christmas and I'm trying to adjust to keyboard and mouse. I used to always type stories for school, so getting used to keyboard controls wasn't all that difficult. I'm just having a hard time adjusting to a mouse. I'm not nearly as reactive. On PS4, I was great at something that's really fast paced like Hotline Miami, but on PC my brain and my hand just don't coordinate. I react in time, I'm just not accurate with a mouse. It's the same with CS:GO. I react in time, just not accurately. I've been mostly playing ArmA 3, which I like because I don't have to have great reflexes and perfect muscle memory, I can just take my time and aim. I know that's not necessarily good, because it'll take longer for me to be super precise. Any suggestions on games I can play or things I can do to be more accurate with a mouse?

Please, if you don't do anything else, please....

Read the system requirements on the store page for each game you are thinking about buying. If you are not sure if you can run the game, you can feel free to ask for advice/help here.

EDIT..That is not in answer to what you asked about a mouse, I know. But addresses the "Any tips ?" in your OP. Thanks.

Yea don't worry I already know that. I only ever consider getting a game if I think I can actually run it after looking at requirements

I am sorry, but you asked about a mouse and tips with those. See this post and this thread, please. Maybe you will find this and the thread in general, helpful.

I did. I will set my mouse there the next time that applies to me in a game. Thanks.

you can still use console type controllers made for windows, or something like the Razer orbweaver I can play all of my 200 plus steam games with it, paired with my Corsair M95 gaming mouse.

PS: WELCOME ABOARD

Yea I know I can still use controllers, but I'd rather use a kb and m because some games don't have full controller support, or you can't do everything with it. ArmA, for example, you can use a controller, but you still need a keyboard for some things, same as something like War Thunder. There's just too many controls for a controller

There is no real need to switch to keyboard and mouse. I'm an ex-console player and as an old fart there was no way I'd be able to re-train my muscle memory to KB & Mouse.

For the most part i still use a controller even for FPS games and I'm just as competitive as KB & Mouse players, regardless of what the elitists say.

Apart from RTS games, nearly every game made in the last 4 years supports a controller on the PC.

Not "a controller", it's more of a "XInput gamepads but really nothing else". There are few exceptions, but you really need an XInput one.

Basically.

Play however you want. You can use a keyboard and mouse, you can use a controller, including Sony's DualShock 4 using for example Steam's own controller configuration, you can even use a guitar.

Remember you can buy games from more than one digital storefront. Good place to check sales is on http://isthereanydeal.com

Familiarize yourself with Steam Family Sharing and its risks, should you have relatives or close in real life friends you trust and who trust in you with that.

If you want to play with a TV, Steam has a Big Picture Mode you can use. You can use Steam Link, and some Samsung TVs have that built-in even. Moonlight is also a thing that you can use with Android and iOS devices, but don't rely on that with games that require real-time input.

Know there's tons of DRM-free games on Steam. http://steam.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_DRM-free_games and GOG if you don't always like to have the client running to play games you want to play.

If the game doesn't have Steam Cloud support (you can check under the Updates -tab), you can use for example GameSave Manager. www.gamesave-manager.com/

If you have issues with some particular game, http://pcgamingwiki.com can be of use. As well as the general tips like: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=6218-USFX-5568 and the game forums you can find here: http://steamcommunity.com/discussions/#games

Keeping your software up-to-date as well as your operating system, and being sceptical on the web goes a long way. Enabling Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator also goes a long way in securing your Steam -account.

Almost forgot adding:
1. Disable vsync. Not all games, but many games intrudice input lag resulting in worse accuracy
2. For the love of whatever you believe in, disable mouse smoothing, mouse acceleration and so on. Those options are objectively bad. I am not kidding. It's not a matter of taste, those options are bloody crap and the only reasons they even exist are horrible console ports.
3. Practice, practice, some more practice, practice more and... Well, you get the idea. Simply practice.

Low sensitivity = fast mouse movements allowed without spazzing out. <---- [Recommended]
High sensitivity = Slow mouse movements because you have superior hand-eye coordination.

In an FPS game :

Just take a point at the wall ingame and keep your crosshairs on that point. Then start to strafe left/right. Switch with running while strafing (A-D). Do the movements you normally do while aiming at a certain point. Then adjust your mouse sensitivity (Ingame)

In Arma, startup the editor and create a target practice or something like that. Then start "training" yourself, and adjust the settings everyone else suggested. Things like mouse pitch, sensitivity are best adjusted during this training period.

Make sure your frame rate is stable. In Arma, at least try to keep the overall framerate above 30.
Could say to keep it above 60 FPS, but im afraid this isn't really helpfull in arma games.

Use mods for arma that alter the viewdistance by the fly. Not sure what the mods are called, but you could hit mouse3 and bring up the action menu to change the viewdistance from like 1500 to 3000 if you were traveling or needed a long range. This hurts framerate, so it's nice to have a mod to change this on the fly.

Also, try a xbox/ds/steam controller when flying/riding vehicles (Needs setup)
Much more fun than with mouse/keyboard.

I suggested the Razer orbweaver because it has 20 keys, d-pad stick plus it has a 3 shift mode functionality which gives you 20 times 3 keys (60 choices) keys you can program plus macros
what else do you need
