Selling my PC - with Steam games installed ??
Hi

If I want to sell a driving simulator - I need to sell the PC that runs it all - this PC includes driving games that I use on the rig that I purchased / run via Steam. How do I sell the driving rig/ PC and still have the new owner of the rig have access to the games - without having open slather access to my Steam account etc ??

You can't sell the games.

You can't sell the games - they are bound to your Steam account which you can't sell either.

You can leave the Steamapps/common folder with the files. That is about all you can do.

So because I bought my games via Steam - it renders my driving sim 'unsaleable" - really.
Thats gotta be a joke.

You can't. The new ower will have to purchase games on his/her own account.

The set-up is sellable, but the games can not be included with it as they are tied to your account.

The Steam account can not be traded, sold or transfered, as per the SSA.

That is illegal. IN fact unless you are using an oem license it is illegal to sell a PC with pre-installed software.

Certain games can be run from their executable files without going through Steam. However, your Steam account is bound to you as a person, not to a piece of Hardware. Any game already installed that requires Steam to run will not run, and that's something you'd have to check on an individual level.

Why cant I just change all the details of my Steam account when the new owner buys the rig - ie email addy and default payment system? And then the new owner uses that?

Steam Subscriber Agreement. Read it.

Section 1-C...

Your Account, including any information pertaining to it (e.g.: contact information, billing information, Account history and Subscriptions, etc.), is strictly personal. You may therefore not sell or charge others for the right to use your Account, or otherwise transfer your Account, nor may you sell, charge others for the right to use, or transfer any Subscriptions other than if and as expressly permitted by this Agreement (including any Subscription Terms or Rules of Use) or as otherwise specifically permitted by Valve.

The Steam account can not be traded, sold or transfered, as per the SSA.

That will get the account locked and the owner can sue you over it.

because the new buyer has not explicitly accepted the EULA or TOS, or SSA.. These are all legally binding contracts.

It actually protects you from a lot of things.

The new owner of the PC should also be given the PC fully reformatted from scratch for your protection and theirs even if the person is known.
