Downloading at 16KB/s
Hi,

Steam allow us to limit our dowload speed to 16KB/S but if I do so two problems occur.
1/ Download doesn't start (keep stoping and retrying 0 Bytes / 0 Bytes).
2/ If it download... It can download 250MB in total (top left of the download screen) in a few hours but only 30MB / 400MB on the game (in the midle of the screen).

I've tried to look everywhere to find clues about this issue but haven't found any answer.
I don't care about comment such as "why would someone try to download at such a speed ?" or any other that would not be focused on the specific issues.
One other thing, if I remove the download speed limit I can download just fine.

I'd really be happy to find a proper explanation.

Why on earth would you want to cap it so low?

OMG why is there allways a guy like this ?

WHY DOES IT MATTER ???
IS IT THE ISSUE ???

Ok let's say I'm in the middle of a forest and only have my mobile phone to connect to internet and my rate is caped by my provider becaus I already used all my data for this month.
Or Let's say I've been abducted by aliens and they let me on an asteroid and my laptop pick up a wifi signal but It's a 128Kbps Network.

Pick whatever answer you prefer and again thanks for asking useless quetion and making useless comment.

Maybe the are files too big to be downloaded at the slow rate you want. I don't know how small the files can be broken down into, perhaps not enough to stay under the 16KB/s? I'm guessing that's how downloading works.

Well I don't think so because for all your traffic over internet everything is divided into little network packet called Datagram and those are kinda really small.
So When you download something (even at 16KB/S) you download quite a few of these Datagram each second and they little by little build the files you're downloading.
